There is a special tool to remove the fuel filter---if it close to the gas tank--remove the 2 nuts that hold the fuel filter bracket to get more room--any auto parts store should have the tool--install around fuel line & push towards filter & that unlocks the spring clip on the filter so you could remove the filter

1990 f150, 302engine, cranks but wont start. have spark at all plugs, 45 pounds gas pressure at fuel rail. any ideas

Hi Patrick, Your problem sounds as if it is connected to a mal function of the injection system. I think you should try replacing the fuel filter and if that does not have the desired effect, replace the fuel pump. The reading you're reporting is a little on the low side. The requirements of your vehicle should be about one third more than you report. Regards John

Do 91 f150 5.0 F.I. have an external fuel pump?

Unlikely but before you do the pump I’d suggest you replace the fuel filter first. Cheaper and is mounted by the tank or the frame.

My pick up engine will turn over but it will not hit could it be the fuel pump thanks

Some basic things to ck,does it have an inertia switch?-ck your manual, its like a circut breaker for fuel pump,-my 93 f150 and 89 mustang do.Ck your regular fuses in the panel/possible under hood also on yours.Have someone stand bye the back of the truck, turn the key on-not cranking ,can you hear the pump turn on,should be able to hear it from outside next to the bed-its pretty loud. All of these fail you could try to pull/replace 10-bucks fuel filter, when its off crank the motor 2seconds see if its pumping fuel out.Anything after that its multi meter or garage time for further trouble shooting.Pumps always **** its a pain in tha a**,Good Luck

I got a toyota sequoia 2005 suv, 8v, 4.7L. I need change the gas filter yes or no?

The fuel filter is located inside the gas tank, the filter should last the life of the pump. i work on many models with this design and never had a problem, i tell customers it lasts the life of the pump. your fuel filter doesnt need replacing, it will last the life of the pump, it gets replaced with the fuelpump when it goes, good day.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 93 ford f150 xlt 5.8?

1990-94 ENGINES The filter, with these engines, is located amidships on the left frame rail. The filter should be changed either every 15,000 mi. (24,000 km), or 15 months, whichever comes first. The filter should also be changed whenever a fuel delivery module is replaced. CAUTION
To prevent siphoning of fuel from the tank when the filter is removed, raise and support the front end of the truck above the level of the tank.
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure. See Section 5. When working in hot weather, work quickly to complete filter replacement before the fuel pressure rebuilds!
  2. Unsnap the filter canister from the retaining clips.
  3. Disconnect the quick-connect couplings and remove the filter. WARNING
Be careful to avoid kinking the fuel lines! To install:
  4. Noting the direction-of-flow arrow on the new filter, connect the fuel lines.
  5. Snap the filter into the clips.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to RUN several times - without starting the engine - and check for leaks.

I have a 92 f150 2 wd that wont fire have changed distributor coil ignition module cap rotor

Fuel pump may not be working. Check the fuse. It should be in the fuel tank. Try replacing the fuel filter first. If this was at all helpful, please rate. Thanks for asking.

Remove fuel lines from the fuel filter on a 93 f150 ford truck

There is a special tool used to disconnect the lines from the fuel filter. You should be able to get them at any local automotive shop, i.e., Pepboys, Autozone, Chief Auto. It should be relatively cheap to buy this tool.
