HOWLING NOISE CAN COME FROM BAD WHEEL BEARINGS.

It could be rear end problems, try adding gear oil

Vw golf mk4 abs warning light on

If your ABS runs thru clean upon initial starting of the car and only turns on when the car has been put into motion,
You have a vibration occuring near the wheel speed sensors that is tripping the ABS system up.
Is there any howling noise while driving down the road ( like the howl the tires on a truck would make , but more subdued), and it goes away when you are driving down the road and turn one way or the other?

Oldsmobile Intrigue front end howl

Need more info...front end you say... A particular side? Is replaced tire the same as other 3 tires? hear it while driving, or braking, or both? Hear it more steering left or right or going around a corner?

Could be a front wheel/hub bearing is my only guess at this point. Howling or groaning could also mindicate a transmission problem.

I have bad road noise after 40 mph. This started after changed tires and both front boots and axles

to possible answers
the axles are new and the cv joints mat be firm resulting in noise transmission through failing engine mounts ( unlikely but possible )
the tread pattern may be the cause of the noise especially if the tyre pressure is incorrect
Take it back to the shop and take them for a road test to see if they can find the reason
when drive axles have to replaced , it generally means that the front lower arms have to be disconnected so a wheel alignment may also be in order

I seem to have excessive road noise when on the freeway.

First question I would have is are all the tires the same tread design, and is it an AGGRESSIVE design ? Next I would check all tire pressures. If all questions are positive, you might have to better describe the noise such as a HOWL, DRONING SOUND, EXHAUST BOOM. Hope this helps.

Front end noise - Basically really loud "howl" when driving

Try jacking your vehicle up and turning the tires. listen for any odd noise like a grinding sound, wheels hubs have been known to make a grinding noise when they go bad.
