My 2001 chevy cavalier horn stopped working it would work when the car was off now it stopped completely what do u think it is ?

If you hear a click from the area of the glove box when you press the horn pad on the steering column, then the horn buttons and relay are working and the problem is most likely the horn itself. Unfortunately, the horn buttons in the steering pad are usually the issue. Replacement is tricky since you are working near the airbag. It is easier to find the horn wire at the base of the steering column and redirect it to a horn button you can buy at any auto parts store and fasten to dash next to the driver.

Anybody know how the horn wiring behind airbags is supposed to go? 1998 Chevy cavalier 2.2L. I'm replacing the airbags cover and don't know where the wire and ground goes...(

It is really very simple. The horn lead with the plastic connector and the spring pushes in and turns to lock in the large round hole at the upper left center of the steering wheel. If you look into the hole, you will see the contact down in there with a plastic "tube" with a slot in it for the horn connector to go into.

The ground clip (wire with brass or steel clip on it) simply pushes into the hole in the steering wheel center near the bottom (It grounds to the steering wheel center).

2005 Cavalier horn does not work. Stearing wheel airbag missing?

no connection between air bag and horn operation
the air bag is in a section but that whole section presses to activate the horn
can be on either side bottom or top will work the horn
probably right that there is no air bag
you will have to remove the wheel to check the horn contact under the center bit
check for a horn relay operation first

I have a 2003 cavalier;and the horn doesn;t work . ineed help taken the steering wheel off to check wireing

Before i took the steering wheel off i would locate the horn itself and unplug it and run a straight wire from each battery post and touch one wire to each contacter on the horn to make sure the horns not bad itself. But to take the steering wheel off you have to unbolt the airbag from the back remove it and then you should be able to check the horn contacter without pulling the steering wheel.

The horn in my 2003 chevy cavalier stopped working and i need to know why it stopped working and where the horn is located

It may be your horn fuse. It will be in one of your fuse boxes. Just follow your diagram on the fuse box lid.

Broken Horn won't *******- 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

Hi. If your airbag has not deployed, you don't have to replace it. The airbag may have to be removed to get at the horn circuit. Try taking it to an independent auto repair place. I'll be willing to bet that they'll give you a better price for the repair. Good luck! ricardok45
