I have a 2005 kia spectra and when i turn the ac on it is slipping real bad, what is it? I think it is the air conditioning clutch but i dont know for sure! it stops making the noise when i turn the ac off but when i turn it on it makes a horrible squelling sound! It is getting worse by the day!!

I had this problem, the belt was worn out and the bearings in the AC pulley are going bad. Removed the belt to the AC and the problem went away, no AC until I get the replacement.

I know t sounds obvious but check the fuses. Make sure the power feed wire has not dislodged from the compressor clutch. the is also a relay that may have died, any compitent mechanic that can look at this will analyze the fault quickly. Lastly be sure that none of the air con lines have split or been damaged and lost its gas. Trying to help without seeing, good luck.
it sounds belt related. i am not sure if this vehicle has a seperate belt for the ac compressor, but if so, it sounds possible that the compressor seized and tore the belt off. have a look
What kind of problem are you having with the 30 amp draw?If it is pulling to many amps,how do you know?Are you using amp prob on the battery cable or on the ac circuit ?Or is the 30 amp pull down showing up on the cars amp meter?If it is showing up on the cars amp meter,then,you need to check the battery for load amps,and see if the alternator is putting out at least 85 amps,13.50 volts to 14.25 volts.There will be the problem.If I can help,let me know.>>[email protected]
