Whether we manually lock our door or use the key when we go to unlock the doors the alarm goes off on our 2001 KIA Sportage. Is there a way to disengage it or is there an order in which we are to lock our doors to not have this happen.
We are having the same problem with our 2003 Sportage that we have had for a week! UGH! Please post if you figure something out. thanks. We are having the same problem with our 2003 Sportage that we have had for a week! UGH! Please post if you figure something out. thanks.

When replacing the key fob battery there is no reprogramming required! If the key fob was working prior to the battery replacement then it would point to the contacts not being correct! Remove key fob battery and start again!
It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.
Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.
Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-
put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.
Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.
If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.
Usually if you use the key in the door lock to lock unlock the door it will disarm the security system on the car, when you unlock the door it has to be the drivers door, lock the door then unlock the door and hold the key in the unlock position for 2 seconds
the anti theft is working! try manually locking your doors, then wait 15 minutes, unlock the doors with key, the last door you should lock is drivers. lock all doors from inside but drivers, when you shut drivers door, lock it from outside with the key.leave it alone for about 15 minutes please! when you unlock it with the key, if the alarm goes off, disconnect the battery for 10mins. then start over, just remember to lock the driverside door from outside this time with the key!!!
If it is an aftermarket or a higher end manufacturers alarm then chances are there is nothing wrong with your alarm its just that they are programmed to be "Armed or Disarmed" with a remote before entering the car so a keyed entry (without disarming the alarm) will set it off as soon as the doors are opened.
If you truly believe there is a problem then a liitle further clarification may be needed.
HOW MUCH???the key has a transponder inbuilt that you have to program to the car for it to work.should cost less than $100, working.the transponder is a magnet (like a swipe card) that the car has to recognise, thats it.if what they said is true why does the alarm go off? yes the key sets it after you take it out of the ignition by locking the doors.but you need to remotely
turn off the alarm before you can get in......i would email kia(for your country)THEY WILL REPLY.(they need chassis #)
TRY THIS PRESS REMOTE TRANSMITTER LOCK BUTTON ACTIVATES ALARMS AND LOCKS ALL DOORS.NOW PRESS REMOTE TRANSMITTER UNLOCK BUTTON DEACTIVATES ALARM AND UNLOCKS ALL DOORS AND TRUNK LID.IF VECHICLE UNLOCKED AND DOORS OR TAIL GATE NOT OPEN WITH IN 30 SECONDS LOCKS AND ALARM ARE REACTIVATED.IF YOU STILL HAVE TROUBLE WITH DOOR LOCKS THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.
