How do you change the fuel sending unit on a Chevy Malibu? The unit is located, so I am told, on top of the fuel tank (not inside) where the fuel pump goes into fuel tank. Any idea how much would it cost to have a mechanic replace it?

The fuel "level" sending unit is located on the side of the fuel pump module, see red arrow on picture below. The fuel tank will need to be dropped and the fuel pump module removed in order to replace the fuel level sending unit. You can expect to pay a couple hours of labor to remove the tank and replace the level sending unit.

the fuel tank pressure sensor is located on top of the fuel pump module. The fuel tank will still need to be lowered to get at it but the fuel pump module does not need to be removed from the tank to replaced it.

Where is the the fuel sending unit or valve on a 1985 ford truck?

ALL fuel gauge sending units are located inside of the fuel tank(s).
The have a small plate that they are attached to on the top side of the tank. On many models the fuel tank has to be emptied and removed
in order to access or change it.
PAS the fuel pumps, on many modern models, are also located inside of the tanks.

Need to replace fuel level sending unit in an, 06' chevy malibu

The sender is in the fuel tank. Some GM vehicle's tanks are such a pain to remove that they have an access panel above it(trunk or rear seat area?) so the sender can be changed more easily. If not, you'll have to drop the tank to change it.

Fuel pump location on a 2003 chevy malibu

Your cars fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. All fuel injected cars except a few older foreign cars [mostly European] have electric pumps located inside the tank. This allows them to make the pressure required by the fuel injectors.

How to change a fuel pump on a 2000 chevy astro van

It is located in the gas tank, you will need to remove the sending unit at the top fo the tank. To access the sending unit, you will need to drop the tank by removing the straps. It is a big tank so drain as much as possible and disconnect the batter before you start.

Hope this helps

How do you change the fuel pump on a 2002 chevy malibu

It is inside the fuel tank. There is no access panel. The fuel tank has to be removed from the vehicle and slid out to the right side(to clear the exhaust on the left). Once the tank is out of the vehicle, the fuel module can be removed from the top of the tank.
