SOURCE: cant find oil filter

First, it ain't easy.

I finally found the oil filter with its screw off top. It is on the right front side of the engine (left of the Battery) and just visible (with a flashlight) about two inches below the black plastic cover. Removing the cover is unnecessary and doesn't help much even if you do.

I slipped a CFA size 6 filter remover cap over the plastic top - I think that you can also use a 32mm ratchet on the hexagonal molded piece on top. In either case, I suggest applying a bit of new oil by finger around the edge of the screw on cap prior to trying to ratchet it off - either with the CFA size 6 or the 32mm fitting.

It comes off counter-clockwise and you won't have much room to work - about 3 inches of play. Once you get it started, remove the ratchet and remove by hand. Have some paper towels to wrap around the assembly when you remove it.

Discard the old inner filter and install the new one. Remember to look at the old one before you remove it so you can install the new one correctly.

Finally, by hand reinstall the filter and cover. Twist the cover on clock-wise until it is hand tight. You can use your ratchet to tighten and extra quarter or eighth turn if you like but I don't feel it is necessary.

Hardly worth doing yourself but a change at a garage with 6.3 quarts of 0W30 fully synthetic oil cost a pretty penny.

My 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero 4-cyl Turbo Won't start. However, I have power in car, lights windows and radio works. But it won't turn-over. It could be Starter or Starter Relay. I can't find out

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

Saab 93 aero 2001 engine light on how do you get it off

If you have a code scanner you can do it yourself. Auto zone and Advance will not reset your codes anymore. You have to find someone that has a code reader and reset it. Maybe your local shop will do it for you?

Check control module and wireing for loose or bad connection. Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose even at shop and can get expensive fast so also try taking off negative battery cable for 1 hour to reset all cars computers believe it or not this fixes 80 percent of intermittent problems

Dashboard lights

does it light up like a christmas tree? I had a simliar problem last year on my 2000 9.5 aero. I beleive it was the tcs on, tcs off, emergency light, and 2 others, i forget now. After paying the saab dealer $800 to try and diagnose it, finally they came up with a faulty abs switch. Cost to replace was over 3k. I took it to my other mechanic and he found one in a junk yard for half the price. I had it replaced over a year now and it works fine.
Have them check out the ABS switch. I later found simliar info on the web of other saab dealers
