The indicator light means something is amiss in the emissions controls, there are many sensors and activators involved, from the gas cap to engine controls, have the vehicle scanned, most places do a code scan and replace whatever sensor is read, wrong, a real time scanner will tell a tech whigh unit is acting up then he can diagnose why, this is what i tell my customers, you have a leaking roof, the code scanner will tell you the floor is wet, so you mop it, a real time scanner will tell you there is drippin on the floor, so you put a bucket to catch the dripping, a good tech will look at the floor then the drip and look up , so he fixes the leak and fixes the problem, good luck
