If you don't hear the pump spinning or pumping then it's a possible bad electrical pump, or it's the wiring to it, a fuse, or the fluid is frozen in the pump if the weather is too cold (below 32 deg. F with 32 deg. F windshield wiper fluid).

Windshield washer fluid quit working on my 2011 Freightliner Cascadia

There's a few things you might want to check. First, check to make sure the washer fluid reservoir is completely (assuming you hadn't already done that). After you are certain the reservoir is full, look for any possible leaks...either the reservoir or the hoses going from the tank to the windshield. If the tank and hoses are intact, turn on your windshield wipers...then try running the pump. If no washer fluid comes out, and for this you might need another person to assist you, try running the pump again...listening to make sure the pump is in fact running. If the pump does run but still no fluid comes out, inspect all of the hoses as well as all of the outlets where the fluid sprays the windshield...it is possible that the outlets may be plugged. Some common reasons for the outlets to be plugged...debris, dirt/mud, and/or wax (has anyone recently waxed your Freightliner?). Just to be sure, using a small needle or even a wire, ensure each outlet is cleared and not obstructed with anything. After that, try running the pump again. If no luck, try removing the hoses going from the tank to the windshield. Once removed, using something like a wire coat hanger, clear each hose for any possible obstruction. Reattach hoses and try running pump again. If still no luck, I would guess the problem might be located with the washer pump itself. Before opting to replace the pump, if you believe that is the problem and the pump just doesn't operate, check all fuses and inspect any/all wiring connections.

Good luck

Windshield cleaner/washer fluid is not working

Check that the fluid reservoir is full of windshield wiper fluid and that the pump is not worn out or burnt out. May have to get a new pump and remove and replace to fix this problem. Also, check that the windshield wiper fluid is winter type and not summer type in cold climates.

Hi, i own a bmw x5 3.0 2005, and what i am asking about is how to fix my headlight sprays, i think they r not working

Hi mario,

Stand by the washer reservoir under the hood while someone operates the washers. The headlights must be in the on position for the sprayer to work. Attached to the reservoir will be 2 washer pumps. On pump is for the windshield washer, the other for the headlight washer. They are interchangeable for testing. The reservoir can be removed after removing the 2 black speed nuts. (use a 10mm socket and ratchet). Also make sure the grommet with screen under each pump is not full green algae. Your pump has most likely failed.

1999 BMW 323i wiper fluid is not spraying. Wipers work fine and I did check the fluid level which is full.

When you turn on the washers do you hear the pump running? if so the nozzel could be plug at the windshield or a break in ght hose. If you do not hear the pump running the washer pump could be faulty.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Tiberon. The washer fluid jets seem to have stopped working. It's full of fluid, but when i pull the lever for it to squirt onto the windshield, nothing comes out. Just wondering...

lift up the hood and remove a washer pipe,if fluid pumps out then its just the jets blocked,(use an airline/thin pin to clear.if fluid does not come out, check the pump.

Is there a dedicated fuse for the windshield washer motor? The washer fluid is full but no fluid comes out and there is no noise either

If there is no noise, it is most likely that the motor has burned up and will require replacement. Let me know if you need anything else.

2000 BMW 323i windshield washer fluid won't work

Had the same problem with my 2001 330ci. If not used frequently the pump will get waterlogged and allow fluid to seep into the motor. I was able to disassemble, clean, and rebuild my pump but I would recommend replacing it, it is not expensive at around $20-30 and easy to change.

The washer pump is inserted into a hole on the washer tank itself. It is an interference fit so it will pop out. If you have significant amount of fluid in the tank it will leak out of the hole. There should be one hose connected with a clamp and one electrical connector. I believe there may be a plastic shroud covering it which needs to be unsnapped.

Good luck!
