I have an all trac, 88 camry, 5 speed; I have a thumping noise as I drive. I have replaced both half shafts and replaced the u-joints in the drive shaft. Therefore, I raised the front and rocked the wheels back and forth to locate the noise. I was unable to precisely locate it, but noticed the drive shaft turns slightly when I rock the front wheels back and forth. Is it possible the all trac has not disengaged all the way?

I don't think that would be the cause, but most likely all your seeing on the shafts is just a little bit of normal drag.

SOURCE: cracking or breaking sound when turning mainly when parking

I doubt it. I heard the same noise from my old Accord when the CV boot was going out. If you heard breaking from the drive shaft I believe the next thing you'd see is it rolling down the street. If the drive shaft were making that sound you would not be able to continue driving.

SOURCE: 1991 toyota camry front drivers side makes noise while driving

It's the left front wheel bearing. Take it to your favorite mechanic if you have one, any good tech can do it, but he/she could run into complications with a car of that age. (The hip bone's connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone's connected to the knee bone, etc, and there's probably a good share of corrosion down there).

SOURCE: starting issue

Ahh, so when it decides not to start, the engine does not turn over at all?......this sounds like a loose ground/connection on the starter motor itself.....you will probably need to inspect it which means removing the intake manifold.................If you have little experience working on this engine,I'm afraid you will need to take it to a professional......

The problem could also be your starter relay,...have a look at the fuse block under the hood in the engine bay and check that all relays are seated properly.

SOURCE: 2001 F150 The column gear shifter won't fully

This problem could be caused by a few things, first I would check the shift cable (most common) by disconnecting it from the transmission range sensor (on transmission), and from the ball stud on the steering column. Then have an assistant push one end of the cable fully foward and hold firmly. You then push on the other end making sure no spongyness is present. the cable should feel solid, then have your assistant let go and manually pull cable in and out, should be smooth with no binding, if binding or spongyness is present replace cable. Second, the bracket with the ball stud on the steering column is attached with 3 gold colored bolts that require a t-30 torx socket. These tend to come loose and does not allow the cable to completely be pushed into the park position, so by rocking the truck, the shift bracket is forced into park. make sure these bolts are tight. You might have to put the shift lever in the low position to see these bolts. Third, the cable might require adjustment due to the locking tab at the transmission range sensor not completely locked.

Jeep liberty problems

3 things that i know of that could cause vibration noise that starts/stops at speeds. 1- The tires, either they need balancing, or they got used up irregularly and "bounce" on the pavement. 2- drive shafts are damaged (dented, waved), dirty, or need balancing. It happens from time to time that the weights the solder on the shafts to balance them at the factory just fall off due to rotation and rust and all, and just a good clump of baked on dirt can also unbalance the shafts. 3- U-Joints that need replacing don't let the shafts move freely and tend to make them vibrate. If that is the problem, you can replace the u-joints with new ones using a few tools to remove the snap rings and a hammer or vice to press the u-joints out of their sockets. Also i do believe the front end on a liberty is made basically like a FWD and has 2 half shafts to drive the wheels, and the joints in those can also be done for and need replacing, although half shafts don't have u-joints and aren't really serviceable so if the problem is there you will need to replace the whole half shaft. Hope this helps.

How to install a half drive shaft on a 1994 oldsmobile 88 royal?

You will have to remove the U-clamp in the middle of the shaft so that the half-shaft can flex enough to be inserted into the transmission. You may have to turn the shaft so that the universal joint is flexed in the correct angle.

Hope this helps!

CV JOINTS?

The CV joints are needed to transfer the torque at a constant speed to steered wheels as well as to accommodate up and down motions of the suspension.
You will find CV joints in all front-wheel drive cars. Many rear- and four-wheel drive cars and trucks have CV joints as well. The CV joint is packed with grease and protected by the rubber or plastic boot.
It does not require any maintenance and supposed to last very long provided that protective boot will not get damaged.

IF IT ONLY THUMPS WHEN YOUR CAR IS MOVING YOU COULD BE WRITE. PAY ATTENTION TO THE THUMPING CLOSLEY, DO YOU FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, IF SO THE PROBLEM IS IN THE FRONT END. IF YOU FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE DRIVERS SEAT THE PROBLEM IS IH THE REAR END. YES THE VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT STEERING AND THE DRIVERS SEAT IS A WAY TO TELL WHERE THE PROBLEM IS

Thumping or clicking noise when steering sharp right turns

If it's a 4WD then your front universal joint(s) on the front wheel drive shafts are on the way out and should be replaced. They should be replaced as a pair (both sides) so that you have uniform wear, but you can replace the bad one to solve the problem. The noise should be coming from one side or the other, indicating which one is going bad, but it's most likely the right sive CV joint. Also, it the rubber boot on the end of the driveshaft is damaged or torn, that would point to the offending joint. Your parts store should be able to sell you a reconditioned half shaft to fix the problem. Replacement can be done at home with decent tools.
