Listen for a rough idle, look for oil on the throttle body and look for blue smoke coming out of your tailpipe. Replace the inexpensive PCV valve if you have these symptoms. It should only cost about $3.00 at the auto parts store. A bad PCV valve can cause your car's engine to start using a lot of oil. However if this does not stop the problem, then you must turn your attention to the internal workings of the engine (i.e., rings, pistons, valve guide seals). You may also want to have the front and rear seals on the crank checked for leaks as well. The PCV valve is on top of the valve cover. Should be a hose connected to it.----------------That's it.

It may be the pcv valve ( positive crankcase ventilation) that needs replaced. if a pcv valve fails, it will put oil in air cleaner or throttle body. check to be sure hose to valve is not clogged up. its only about a 5.00 part. have a good one !!

Where is the IAC valve on a 1994 tercel

It is mounted to the throttle body. Looking at the throttle body, you can see it. But you have to remove the throttle body to replace or clean it.

Why does a Toyota tercel 1994 take so long to warm up?

The favorite culprit for a long warm up is always the cooling system thermostat which has stuck open. It will usually be found in a housing at the engine end of the top radiator hose.

Oil type for '94 Tercel

Hello Seth.
If the temperature you are running until your next oil change is due will be below 50F average they recommend 5w30.
Otherwise 10w 30 is the choice.

I can drive for 30 min. With no prob. After that

Sounds like fuel vapor lock. When fuel is heated, it will change from liquid to gas.... gas bubbles don't feed very well through injectors or throttle bodies.
Inspect your metal fuel lines under the hood, most likely. See if a metal hose is touching the engine, especially the near or on the exhaust manifold. You might want to insulate the fuel lines (Lowe's or Home Depot $4) with pipe insulation.

I have a 1994 toyota tercel with a 1995 motor do I tell if its a 2E or not

If you have a '95 motor it should be a 5E-FE. The Tercels from '91-'94 had the oil burning no good 3EE. You can tell quickly if your engine has 16 valves.

Replacement of 1991 Toyota Tercel Fuel Filter

i wouldnt do i fuel filter unless it is for sure that it needs to be done.

try changing the plugs and spraying out the throttle body in front of the butterfly plate.

there is going to be a lot of black carbon builtup preventing the tbi from breathing at an idle position.the inside of the throttle body or tbi should be very nice and clean.
changing an fuel filter thats not needed can cause more problems for an extra cost.of the not needed parts.fuel filters only should be replaced at a loss of power or pickup or something like that.
anything rough is in plugs and intakes.

hope this helps
thank you
