Hi Bia, The links below are YouTube videos showing how to fix a car that cranks but doesn't start, Also there's videos down the right side of the links that may help as well..................CHEERS.. Fixing Car That Cranks But Doesn Start Up
you must RUN the SCANNER/computer for better diagnostic and fix it. YOu can have some faulty like: PCM+BCM+ignition coil, sensor, etc. see the diagram attached. God bless you
Well you may have more than one problem. As far as cranking, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter and trace back to the key switch. The key switch could cause both problems. There is also a neutral safety switch that could cause it not to crank. You could also have a bad ground connection between the engine and body.
All the battery does is supply power to the starter to crank the engine over.
The alternator doesn't start working until after the engine is started. It supplies electrical power to the engine after it has started and also recharges the battery.
If the engine is cranking over but not starting it is neither the alternator or the battery.
Check for spark and fuel pressure your most likely missing one of these.
Does the engine turn over? If it does, then check to see if the check engine light comes on when you turn the key to the on position. If it doesn't, then the PCM is not receiving power. Check the orange power wire usually located by the battery to make sure it isn't damaged. Repair if necessary. If the check engine light comes on when the key is turned to on then crank the engine while observing the light. Does it go out while cranking? If it doesn't, then a problem with the crank sensor signal is indicated. If it does go out then the problem might be fuel related. Disconnect the air cleaner hose to the throttle body. Have someone crank the engine over while opening the throttle slightly. Spray starting fluid into the engine to see if it tries to start. If it does then a fuel related problem is indicated. CAUTION : Wear safety glasses during this procedure. Be careful around moving engine parts.
