2002 Chevy Avalanche with 200K+ miles - after ignition turned off heard electric motor sound coming from undercarriage - under driver's side seat. Seems to be coming from a small cannister. Sound continues whether car is started or not. Worried it will drain the battery and of course wondering what it might be.

Is the Vehicle flex fuel ? What size engine ?
Fuel Composition Sensor
The fuel composition sensor (FCS), or flex fuel sensor (service parts term), measures the ethanol-gasoline ratio of the fuel being used in a flexible fuel vehicle. Flexible fuel vehicles can be operated with a blend of ethanol and gasoline, up to 85 percent ethanol. In order to adjust the ignition timing and the fuel quantity to be injected, the engine management system requires information about the percentage of ethanol in the fuel.
The FCS uses quick-connect style fuel connections, an incoming fuel connection, and an outgoing fuel connection. The two connections have different diameters, to prevent incorrect attachment of the fuel lines. All fuel passes through the fuel composition sensor before continuing on to the fuel rail. The fuel composition sensor measures two different fuel related parameters, and sends an electrical signal to the powertrain control module (PCM) to indicate ethanol percentage, and fuel temperature.
The fuel composition sensor has a three-wire electrical harness connector. The three wires provide a ground circuit, a power source, and a signal output to the PCM. The power source is vehicle system voltage, +12 volts), and the ground circuit connects to chassis ground. The signal circuit carries both the ethanol percentage and fuel temperature within the same signal, on the same wire.
The FCS uses a microprocessor inside the sensor to measure the ethanol percentage and fuel temp, and change an output signal accordingly. The electrical characteristic of the FCS signal is a square-wave digital signal. The signal is both variable frequency and variable pulse width. The frequency of the signal indicates the ethanol percentage, and the pulse width indicates the fuel temperature. The PCM provides an internal pull-up to five volts on the signal circuit, and the FCS pulls the 5 volts to ground in pulses. The output frequency is linear to the percentage of ethanol content in the fuel. The normal range of operating frequency is between 50 and 150 Hertz, with 50 Hertz representing 0 percent ethanol, and 150 Hertz representing 100 percent ethanol. The normal pulse width range of the digital pulses is between 1 and 5 milliseconds, with 1 millisecond representing -40°C (-40°F), and 5 milliseconds representing 125°C (257°F).
Don't think it will draw the battery down , But you never know with all this electronic stuff . You mite want to have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's .

Did you buy this car new? Do you have any children that drive this car? Sounds like someone may have "unrestricted" that air intake plumbing to achieve that Varoooom sound when one depresses the accelerator.

SOURCE: 2002 Chevy Avalanche. Truck will not

Do a bench test on the starter. Remove starter, hook up a ground cable to starter, and positive to two prongs on starter and it should spin. You can do this in vechile too but not suggested due to risk of injury. If it doesn't spin, probally a solenoid or the starter it self. Unlikely but possible.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. The Driver Seat stopped moving by the controls on the side of the chair. When you put key #1 in ignition, the seat will raise up to where it is supposed to be.

You may have memory seats, your owners manual should have some info on setting memory.
I looked at wiring diagram for your power seat, driver side, it showed three seat motors depending on what your trying to do? If the seat won't move forward and back, have to check horizontal seat motor. The fact that one of the seat motors is working tells me voltage and ground to the seat switch are ok. Could be a seat motor or the control switch problem? I'd have to do testing to decide which?

Headlights on 2005 chevy avalanche went out and all fuses and light bulbs are ok. what do i do do i check the relays and which one are they?

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

I have a 2002 chevy suburban and after the ignition is turned off I hear what sounds like a motor or pump running. I had a dead battery when I left work and had to jump it to get it started. It ran fine on...

Hello: It sounds like the motor/pump assembly is running all the time. You can unplug the electrical connector on the unit. The assembly is located on the frame about halfway back on the drivers side. The relay for the pump motor is integral with the anti-lock module but the module will have to be replaced to replace the module. The relay mab stuck, if the electric pump motor is pulling to many amps it could cause the relay to stick.

How to remove the front bumper cover on 2002 avalanche & how to remove the rear bumper cover

Remove all eight small set screws (4) on each side in the fender wheel wells. Then remove the four secure bolts on undercarriage of bumper (4). Take a screw driver. (flathead) to the upper portions of both the left and right side of the bumper. Be careful....... These are extremely fragile and you may need to replace them before replacing the bumper. Then comes a bit unnerving part. Removal of the bumper........ (This scarred the **** out of me!!!!) just grab ahold of one of the corners, then gradually pull! That's it. The clips will come out gradually and evenly.

The heated seats stopped working.

It could be a fuse or possibly a burnt element altho Ive never really heard of one doing it on both sides at once when it was an element. There is a reset button on some under the hood on the drivers side I believe.
