so, when you let the clutch out, the idle goes back up right away? Have you done any work to it recently? added anything electrical or mechanical?

High idle unless driving in gear, but if clutch is pushed in or car is in neutral rpm goes up to 2900

run fault codes to check for accelerator position sensor problems . Check for vacuum leaks. If cable accelerator then check that the return spring on the end of the cable is attached and not missing.

2005 Colorado RPM's flucuate from normal RPM down to 500 rpm usually after I first start the truck. Then after running for 10-15 minutes this issue goes away. The truck starts fine. This problem only...

Could be the IAC(Idle air control valve). It could also be related to the IAT(Intake Air Temperature) sensor. The IAC should be in the throttle body and the IAT in the intake manifold.

Weird idle when clutch is disengaged

Sounds like a bad idle air motor (That controls idle) But you must pull compiter codes first (The computr tells it what to do)

Question? is the engine's heat normal, if not there's sensor that boosts idle when the engine is cold

If you removed the thrmostat, put it back in.FIRST

IDLE high when stopped or clutched

The ecm will tell the iac to idle up when it senses the ac is turned on.If the ac compressor doesn`t come on,there is no resistance on the motor, but the motor does not know that,so it idles up.Find out why the ac is doing this,it wouldn`t be low on freon,it would have to be,most likely the ac clutc going bad.Try this, turn ac on and when ac clutch goes off,be ready, and don`t get hurt, tap it lightly with a tool or something, but be carefull!.If it clicks back on,try it again when it stops,to make sure. This will tell you the ac clutch/coil assembley is bad.

Rpms will not come down when clutch is engaged

The most likely cause of this is the idle control valve. This can be cleaned with injector fluid or similar (for little cost), but may have to be replaced. Either way it is not too expensive, and can be fixed in less than 1 hour.

I have 2006 Chevy Colorado with 2.8l vortex engine (standard), Idles great but when i am going down the road then push the clutch in to stop the RPM gage will go up and down from 700RPMs to around 300RPMs...

There is a recall for valve problems. The warranty for this problem has been extended to 100,000 miles for that. Check with your dealer to see if that is the problem. If no help contact GM.
