I just had this same problem with a '96 . do you have a vats key in your '94? you need to bypass the VATS system. read some of the blogs on this site and it will tell you how to do it. I fixed mine with a $2 resistor from radio shack.

it would be impossible to disable the security feature without a programmer, the entire idea of the system is that no one without the proper key can start the vehicle, there is a program called "sniper" that can disable PATS (the security system in your car, Passive Anti Theft System) but it is costly, another idea to try is to call local lock smiths in your area, it is possible that one may have your key in stock even though the dealer does not,

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.
