Abs light is on because there is a fault recorded in the abs system. a scan tool will be needed to get the recorded fault from the on board computor. It has nothing to do with the brake pads. It is usually an electrical problem.

What is the normal thickness of the 2004 vw jetta rear pads

there is no normal thickness, there is a new pad and one which is under minimum and should be replaced. other than that, each one is different thickness based on use. go to a parts store and look at some new ones. generally there is a small metal tang on the pad which begins to touch the disk to let you know the pad needs replaced.

How to replace 2005 VW Jetta brakes. Will be nice to have a picture or video on how to replace front and back breaks on a Jetta 2005

the front and rear pads are very easy to replace although you do need a piston wind back tool to replace the rears,my concern is if you are having to ask this question you probally should not be fitting the pads being a safety related item you cannot take risks.my best and honest advice would be to get a mechanic to replace them for you.Sorry if you dont think i,m being helpfull but you cant take chances with brakes.cheers

My break lights in my 01 vw jetta only work once in a while

the swich is located just above and in front of the pedal its self. volkswagon has a recall out for a lot of those brake light switches. The first thing I would do is call the dealer an see if your is onr that has been recalled. they will replace it for free if so.
