Engine stalls while driving. At first it was happening rarely but now it happens frequently. Engine will restart and run fine for hours-days-weeks then happens again. Guages and lights still work. Have replaced the fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator. Can the crankshaft sensor cause this type of problem. Have checked the wiring and all is good there.

I think you have it spot on with the crankshaft sensor. Before I went and bought another sensor, because they are expensive, try cleaning the old one first. I have a Blazer and that is what I did, but my sensor was bad so I bought another one and everything works now.

Try replacing the intank plug-in for the fuel pump. They have been known to go bad even though they look okay.

I hate to say it but you need to find out if the ECM is communicating with any other modules. You should see if you can find a independent service place that has a tech 2. A scan tool that is not a tech 2 may be helpful but a tech 2 would help you pin point things quicker

2001 Honda Odyssey randomly stalls

I had this happen once on an older car. Mine was caused by a loose carburetor. I tried everything and no luck then one day I put my hand on the carburetor to brace myself as I looked at the lower engine and I felt it move.

while your car is likely EFI, you could have an air leak along the intake. Get a can of brake cleaner spray and with the engine running, spray all the connection points and if the idle suddenly slows or speeds up, you found the leak.

then just tighten the connection and try again. If it does t change, you need to change the gasket.

hopefully this helps.

My mav running fine then all of a sudden started missing and stalling when i stopped at lights..when i restarted it it went well for a few weeks then started doing the same more frequently..

if this is happening when you have your foot on the brakes (at lights ) it is probably a failing brake booster allowing too much air into the manifold

Using excessive fuel cleaner can damage injectors and the fuel pump - sounds like your problem is the fuel pump bearings, and you will probably have to have it replaced.

Engine stalls on highway starts after 15 min

Sounds like the same problem I have been having with my 2002 Sedona for
the past 6 or 8 months. It would run OK for several days, weeks, or months,
then just quit. If I let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, it would restart and run fine
for at least the rest of that day. About 2 weeks ago, I was fortunate that it happened when someone was with me, so I was able to determine that it
was not getting any spark. Since then the problem has gotten worse and
more frequent - it was happening almost every day and would take over
1/2 an hour before it would start again. This morning was the last straw.
I drove for about 4 miles and it quit. Took 1 hour and 10 minutes before it
would restart. Drove another 2 miles and did it again. This time it took
1 hour 35 minutes before restart. After 1 more mile, it quit again. Took 2
hours, this time. Made it another mile and BAM! - did it again.
My bro towed me home. I determined that it is most likely NOT the crankshaft position sensor, because 99% of the time they either work,
or they don't. Very rarely does it cause in intermittant problem. The most
likely suspect is the engine computer. That was always a likely culpret
when I worked on GM cars. Today I installed a $50 junk yard engine control computer. I am crossing my fingers!
I will know on Thursday, as I have a 50 mile trip to make.
I will post again on Thursday, to let you all know.

Engine stalls while driving. Fuel deprivation?

I am having the exact same problem with my VW Touareg @60,000 miles. Two weeks ago and again today it sputters and stalls shortly after starting. I brought it into the shop and they could not reproduce the problem and said it was fine. Also, they had no ideas when I describes the problem. Anyone know what it going on? I am out of warranty.
