What you need is a clutch paddle assembly, made out of plastic, held on with 3 or 4 bolts under the dash, assembly will come with paddle also, I belive the part number is 15027983 and cost about $60.00, dealer part only, hope this was very helpful.

Clutch pedal goes to the floor, will not release the clutch

Hello Henry.
There are a couple of possibilities.
First of all, check the fluid level in the reservoir under the hood. It is mounted on the firewall opposite of the clutch pedal. Remove the cap and pull the rubber boot out to fill it (with brake fluid ONLY!).
If it is empty there is a leak. It is usually one of two places. The master cylinder or the slave cylinder.
The master is mounted to the firewall and has a piston in it that pushes fluid through a line to the slave cylinder that is mounted between the engine and transmission.
Look for signs of fluid leakage and that will generally tell you which one needs repair.
The master on the firewall will usually leak on the inside of the truck where the rod from the clutch pedal goes to it and the slave will usually drip out the front of the transmission.

Hope this helps you to repair your Ranger.

Where does the brake fluid go and will replacing the fluid turn off the brake light?

The brake fluid goes in a semi clear reservior with a black cap which is mounted on the Master Cylinder that is located on the drivers side firewall. Most likely you are low on brake fluid that's why your light is on but it could be more in depth problem than that. Add the fluid first before and see if the light turns off.

How do you check the clutch fluid on 1991 Jeep Wrangler?

There should be a small master cylinder for the clutch right next to the brake master cylinder, mounted more towards the fender. Remove the top cover and look inside. Regular brake fluid is used in the clutch system. If it's low, likely you have a leak so check where the rod goes through the firewall under the dash, the line itself and the slave cylinder (some are outside the bellhousing, others are inside and fluid will leak from the bottom of it.

Clutch problem

Dry clutch res. is generally caused by a leak either in the clutch master cyl or the slave unit on the bellhousing. check both for leaks and replace as needed. Master will show seepage between unit and firewall... slave will have fluid under rubber dust boot. Make sure youbleed it (just like brakes) after you replace either.

Clutch

it is a hydraulic clutch system, especially on the 89 prelude. I have one the exact year model, and i had a hole in the slave cylinder hose going to the transaxle from the slave cylinder.

To refill the reservior, use DOT 3 brake fluid. The reservoir is located just to the left of the brake fluid reservoir underneath the hood on the driver's side firewall. you can't miss it.
