Where is the crank sensor on an audi a3 20L TDI & how to change it

IT CAN ONLY BE IN 4 PLACES, CALLED CKP.
FRONT, MIDDLE OR REAR OF CRANK SHAFT
SOME ENGINES REAR SENSOR BEHIND FLYWHEEL. now you know where to look.

THE KEY FACTOR TOO IS THE TONE WHEEL
3 PLACES ON THE CRANK, OR OMG, JUST SLOTS IN THE FLY WHEEL.,
GOOGLE STINKS AT FINDING IT.
THE A3 IS NOT SOLD IN USA, SO WHERE ARE YOU.?

it could be number of things..
basic flat battery
Starter motor

Crank shaft sensor & cam shaft position sensor

was the computer reprogrammed to the right VIN???

can be injectors leaking when parts is warm and expanded or temp sender not sending correct signals to ecu,so get injectors tested and replace temp sender.hope u succeed.

Check TPS Sensor and Fuel Pressure at fuel rail
with a gauge
Clean MAF Sensor

Is this a diesel TDI PD ?? If so i had the same problem with one of these TDI engines and traced it to the crank sensor signal implausable. The revs would start increasing with no pressure on the throttle, lots of black smoke and then cut out. The crank sensor wiring was at fault in this case. The ECU didnt know where the crank position was in relation to the camshaft and was guessing when to inject the fuel. Hence the black smoke ! Hope this is of some use.

Maybe go to www.autozonerepair.com and look it up.

If yours Audi A6 has a TDI engine then you must check up (and replace if necessary) each glow plug & glow plugs relay if no burned glow plugs founded.
