1997 Dodge Ram 1500 is losing oil pressure, stalling at idle, and sudden stops. Have replaced oil, plugs, and recently had a new muffler from the manafold back installed. Truck will be running fine at some points and then engine seems to shake which then disappears when I step on the gas. Also stalls turning into parking spots.

Clean or replace idle air control valve located on the throttle body, this is the valve that adjusts the ammount of air allowed into the engine to adjust fuel mixture. If you change it clean the throttle plate of all the carbon build up

Have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. Truck runs fine until it heats up and the termostat kicks in. It will not idle and the rpms go up and down between 300 and 1000 then stalls. When on the highway it runs fine...

likely your throttle position sensor or idle air control valve. Try disconnecting each one when the problem starts if it corrects you have found the culprit.

I have 97 dodge ram 1500. Once tha truck reaches operating temp. it will stall at idle. Some times you drive it and it runs fine then you stop at a store get a snack and then it wont start with out pumping...

A few things actually lol. How long since its last tune up? A dirty air filter, worn spark plugs and wires and cap and rotor can cause a poor idle and stalling. Not to mention a dirty fuel filter. The fuel filter is in the gas tank unfortunatlly :(
Try giving it a basic tune up " about 45 dollars" and see if that helps. Good luck.

Dodge 98 ram 1500, . got new battery, changed the fuel pump, relay okay, fuse okay.. new idle/air valve new plugs, wires, coil, distributor, cap, got gas in it.. will start, but a few minutes later will...

I would take a look at the plugs and see if they are fouled. You might have a bad fuel pressure regulator. Also, the control module or pick up coil could be bad.

1997 dodge ram idling problems

check the iac (idle/air valve) it controls the idle speed during the time the engine is started or coming to a stop. iac valve is located behind the throttle body . hope this will help you with your problem!!!!
