1993 Chevy 1500. Fuel gauge reads past full, and as I drive, the needle jumps back and forth?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

You need a new fuel level sending unit. It is in the fuel tank.

My 2012 mazda 3 isnt reading fuel levels properly.its reading empty with 20L or 5 gallons of gas in it,also its not reading full even when gas is almost running down the side of the car.

Your fuel gauge sending unit is inside your gas tank.
It is likely defective, and may need replacement.
Some Mazda dealers may have an electronic tester that will measure it's effectiveness.
Having had several cars with this same problem, I have always opted to live with it, but very likely a new sending unit is in order.
God bless your efforts.

Truck died, will crank but wont start. gas gauge reads empty but its half full

How do you know it is still half full? Sure nobody stole your fuel? or never had a leak. Before saying the gauge is off, try to put in a few gallon, and see it the gauge does a reading. Then try to start again. I learned to trust my measurement tools, unless I could prove they were wrong.

Usually the sending unit is not connected, the sending unit is stuck on full, or the gauge on the dash is faulty. You would unplug the harness at the tank and check the circuit for power from the gauge.

The gas gauge for the front tank on my 1992 F150 is stuck past full

replace front fuel pump because gauge is made into fuel pump and not serviceable. Or poor boy way of getting by would be fill front tank with gas reset mileage drive normal for a day. refill again with gas note gallons used and mileage driven for average miles per gallon. front tank should be around 17 gallons multiply by mile per gallon you figured

2000 Chevy Monte Carlo fuel gauge always reads full, unless the engine is running and in neutral. What repair parts are needed and how much time for a mechanic to fix it?

First you will need to test your information display located above the rear view mirror. The easiest way to see if it is accurate is the next time you need gas, fill the tank up! Your car holds 17 gallons of fuel, the display should read 17 gallons after a fill up. If it displays anything other than the 17 gallon amount, then your fuel level sensor is bad. If it appears to be consistent with the 17 gallon reading, keep your eye on it for several miles and after a couple of times that you restart your vehicle to be sure that it is in fact reading correctly. If you are convinced that information is consistent with the actual data, then it's much worse......It needs a new fuel pump! Good luck!

I have a 2000 Grand Prix SE and car specs say that it has a 68 liter gas tank. I converted that into gallons, and its about 17.8 gallons. when i refueled, the gas pump only said it put in 12 gallons when...

make sure you fuel tank float isn't becoming saturated with gasoline. If the gauge reads full when it is indeed full, you probably don't have a short in the wire that goes to your fuel float sending unit. If that wire is bare and shorts out it will say you tank is empty since it works on resistance open or unplugged the gauge would read full, closed is or going to ground the gauge will read empty. I would think the float might be bad or the float arm got stuck down when you turned a sharp corner. I had one of these cars but I don't remember exactly where the fuel level sending unit is located and if you need to remove the fuel tank to gain access to the sending unit. I hope this helps you
