My 2004 deville sounds like a jet engine when it starts. The sound goes away after it warms up I was told its secondary air intake. What needs to be fixed how do I replace it and where do I find the part?

Hello: The noise is from the air pump. This pump puts addition air in the exhaust to help burn the extra gas the engine gets when it is cold. If the pump is extra noisy it probably needs replacing. It is located in front of the drivers side front wheel. You have to remove the bottom splash guards to get to it. It may be a dealer item only but you can check with aftermarket stores to see if they have it. It is normal to hear a low whistle when it runs. Does not run very long.

In addition, make sure the dealer / mechanic uses the latest re-designed hose assembly and follows the related Technical Service Bulletin. Failure of the pump is usually due to water getting into the pump and then freezing.

05 Bonneville sle wont idle till warn

Sounds like the M.A.F. sensor. It monitors the air temp before it goes into the engine like example, if its cold out,it tell the p.c.m to adjust the air, fuel mixture because it need a little more gas to start and run a cold engine compared to it be 80 degrees out and the engine needing less gas to run. I try to explain it the best way that I can but it sounds like to me you have a bad MAF sensor.the usually located in the breather box by the air filter or in the inlet tube before it goes into the intake. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted!

My car makes a noise when I drive and someone told me I neeed a cold air intake but I don't know if that's right. But after a little while the noise goes away but I still don't like it.

Cold air intakes are for hot rodding. Try and pin point the area of your noise. It could be your alternator bearing, or an idler bearing, or just a loose belt. Any one of which may go away when the engine gets warm. It could be a dirty air filter needing to be changed. More detailed analysis will locate and find the cause.

Motor knocks when first started

It sounds like the lifters are draining down over night. When was the last time you changed the oil? A fresh oil change may do the trick, if not try some hydraulic lifter additive ( you just add to the engine oil)

Loud air intake engine noise on startup

I would guess it is the electronic fan clutch. It will cause the fan to run too fast (very loud) and the light will come on sometimes.

THIS IS NORMAL noise for your truck. carbon buildup on pistons causes a cold start knock until warms up. you can run some top engine cleaner thru engine to help. but noise is nothing to affect life of engine

Loud air intake engine noise on startup

If the vehicle has a clutch fan, verses an electric fan, sometimes the clutch will spin the fan too fast or at erratic speeds. I'm not saying that's what it is, but just one possible reason. Seeing how you have the warrany, I would take it in and not leave until they have remedied the problem. Let us know how everything turns out and good luck.

2001 dodge ram 1500 extended cab

Firstly, this is assuming that this is a 5.2 or 3.9 engine. The newer 4.7 modle would be totally different.
Sounds like a intake gasket issue(#3) intake gaskets and a belly pan gasket were quite common place one these modles.
(#2) The passing gear or kickdown is adjustable at the throttle body
(#1) This sound is quite likely normal for this truck. Have heard of many trucks sounding the same and at the time it was normal.

2001 Cadillac Deville; noise after the engine starts

The whine sounds like the power steering or the alternator, as far as the idle issue goes try this clean the intake throttle body and idle speed control valve with carb spray, disconnect battery for 5 min. then reconnect and drive a few miles to reset idle strategy. The car will try to die when you spray the intake, hold the idle up to prevent that, use at least 1/2 the can of carb spray.
