Sounds like a bad earth your car is the xj350 all alloy body car and they suffer from bad earths all the earth/ground studs are bonded to the body. and break away check around under bonnet behind headlamp units and all engine bay.then behind front wheel arch liners, and try the boot area,to repair using the correct way is to get the proper kit but redrill and refix will work ok if you use some suitable corrosion protection steel and alluminium together corrode together easilly

You might need a lube job or you may need to see if noise is coming from another place such as your engine water pump, brakes, power steering. Look for leaks.

Have the code check and get back to me. You can go to Auto zone and they will check it for free. Good Luck

I have an '04 F150 and I had an OD problem that was the same as you are having now, I brought it to a deqaler they told me that I needed a new trans or a rebuilt trans, I disagreed with them becaus the truck shifted fine until the OD gears. I brought it to a transmission shop and they removed the valve body the found a broken clip that got wedged under the valve and would not allow it to open therefore rendering the OD useless and giving a flashing OD light. it cost me $403.00 to repair and have not had a problem with it since. I would call a ****** shop in the area I had my truck back the next day. hope this helps.
