2004 Buick Rainier Logo

I have a 2004 Buick Rainier and the air suspension in the rear is dropping while I am driving. If I pull over turn the truck off wait a few minutes (2-3 minutes) turn the truck on it lifts back up. What is the problem, is this an easy fix or will I run into a pricey repair.

Sounds like air suspension bag leaking. (bag instead of spring) You can convert the car over to springs again, which are much cheaper then bags, but it will not have the load leveling capabilites that it used to have. The bags cost my local repair shop $168 EACH to buy (at his discounted price from the dealer.) It literally takes about 12 minutes to change the bags on each side! It is weird to look at them when you get it off. You will find dryrot cracks which when full inflated they seem to stop leaking. But the next morning, after a cold evening, the rear end will be all the way down.

I found it destroys the rear shock if driven very far when this condition occurs. I ONLY changed my rear shock to the KYB Gas Adjust, which the auto parts store will tell you they are not applicable to your car, but if you call KYB they will give the part number too you. However, I REGRET not having changed my front struts to the same spec KYB upgraded struts to match the rear upgrade.

I am having this problem as well. So are you saying that it is "possible" to just put air shocks on the back as a solution? I was hoping that I could just do that and completely do away with the air bag system. My e-mail address is kellym@unitedtitanium. Could you please let me know what you think about this option? Thanks.

How to change headlight on 2004 buick rainier

Just open the hood to gain access to the rear of the headlight assembly. You will see the electrical connections going to the assy. Just turn them to the left to unscrew / clip the retainer, pull the bulb out, and reverse sequence to replace.

Can you drive a buick rainier with the rear air suspension broken

You can but will cause damage to rest of suspension, possibly floor pan and may even damage wheel. Generally not a good idea to drive with broken suspension.

Air suspension bleeds down over nite intermitten

Not a mechanic, but had the same issue, replaced the air suspension with traditional coils and shocks, total cost about $150 did it myself, really very easy. No more issues and it rides better! Will take you about an hour and a half, tricky getting the axel to drop down low enough to insert the spring, utilize a small pump jack between the axel and frame, hope this helps.

The air conditioning is blowing hot air and the rear air is saying that it is off when the power is turned on to the unit. It is a 2004 Buick Rainier.

The control head may have some issues, this model does, but there is a possible chance the actuator motor that controls the temp door is most likely not working.

I have a 2004 buick rainier with a sagging rear suspension self levelors not working?

The suspension levelors are vaucumn controlled, look for a leak in the vacumn lines and the levelors, sometimes to ease up your search you may use a spray solution of soapy water while the system is engaged to try to pin point the source of the leak.
Kinked, twisted, pinched or broken vacumn hoses are a straight forward sure sign of the problem repair/replace the defect and recheck your work to be sure it is repaired properly after the fix.

2004 BUICK RAINIER

These are side products of the all wheel drive system, incombo with the locking rear dfferentials.

You'll find the auto-lockers will tend to do that following a tight turn, particularly when you're doing it quickly.

The thud is similar in nature; it's just the All wheel system trying to figure out where to put the power.
