2003 Ford Expedition 5.4 liter Eddie Bauer has an electrical short that flashes on the dash gauges with no particular sequence. The red flashing alarm appears as a "check charging system" display and is accompanied by loud beeping. This began over a year ago infrequently (once a month), since mid September 2010, more recently (daily). No discernable change in battery drainage or other electrical issues. I have grave concern about the self-starting fire problem the 2003 Ford Expedition is widely known for.

Hi Ron.
I would take it to a mechanic that you trust. Its very possible that you have a bad BCM, ( Body Control Module). Hope this helps.

SOURCE: diagram bypass heater cord on 2001 ford expedition eddie bauer

the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply

SOURCE: Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

I have a 04expedition eddie bauer 5.4 wont start good battery ,good lights ,wont start with ignition put remote starter on starter, will turn but no start can you help me?

Sounds like anti-theft system problem ! There is a little red light center top of dash pad , When you try to start the vehicle does the light flash fast ? If the vehicle thinks it's being stolen it won't let truck crank over an it turns off the fuel injectors !

It's on the side of the transmission under the drivers door. The shift cable runs to the control arm it is under.

I have a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer and last night I went to engage the 4x4 system in the storm and it started flashing and will not engage... In addition - when I open the doors - the vehicle does...

You could have a shorted diode somewhere in your system. It could have been caused when you tried to engage the 4X4 system. Diodes allow electricity to flow only in one direction and are usually put in the ground system to protect other circuits, and when they blow, they usually open circuit, which means no electricity can flow through them. But when they short, they will allow electricity to back flow which can affect many other circuits. It is important that you get your vehicle to a reputable dealership that has the wiring information for your vehicle. This could cause a lot more damage to your electrical system if it's not repaired quickly.

I have a 2003 eddie bauer ford expedition, when im driving, i can hear a sound like air coming from a tire under the dash on the drivers side floor area. when i tap on my break the sound goes away, what...

A vacuum leak. Look & listen for hissing noise where rubber or nylon lines come through firewall under dash near brake pedal. Also look under hood at large hose going to back of brake master cylinder, power brake booster.
