My 1998 Chevy Blazer crank excessively when I try to start it. It always starts, and runs good when I get it started, but I would really like a smooth start. I have recently changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, battery and air filter. Any ideas?

Leaky injector/s is flooding motor, mechanically clean or replace. And clean throttle body while you are at it with spray cleaner. Should be almost spotless where large throttle valve opens and closes.

You could try cycling the ignition switch on and off several times before you crank it. If it helps check the fuel system. The spider fuel system is noted for problems. Key on engine off, 60--66 psi fuel pressure.

98 Chevy blazer won't start up but will crank ,,

Try giving it a shot of starting fluid. You don't say if it's actually firing. If it tries or runs for a few seconds off of the starting fluid then try changing the fuel pump relay. It's inside of the glove box on the left hand side behind the little door. If that doesn't work it's most likely the fuel pump.

I had a similar problem and just happened to unplug the temperature sensor for the computer and the engine started running smooth.
So I replaced the temperature sensor and all was well!

1998 Chevy Blazer won't start (intermitently)

You will have to find out if it is lacking gas, spark or air first. And here's a tip: Never use ether on a gas engine. That could be the reason it's not starting now. You might be lacking gaskets or valves. Ether... starting fluid is for use on diesel engines only. If you don't know what you're doing on a diesel, you can do more harm than good, and not omnly can you blow your gaskets out, you can blow your head off trying.

1999 chevy blazer has trouble starting from a cold crank

If your engine is cranking really strong make sure you have proper engine timing. If your engine is having a hard time cranking like its cranking really slow. You probably need to check your battery.
