It is an art. You do not have to bend any metal. Usually the glass gets rotated and will "just" make it out through the top of the door. care must be taken to not scratch the new glass.

Power window slipped off track drivers side freezing temps

if your window has popped out of its track , a neet hack to get it back in is to use a bar of soap !! just rub a generous amount on glass edge and window track and gently wiggle the glass back into track (don't bend glass) use only an old credit card or your "cold" bare fingers to wiggle it back in , metal tools will break the glass 4 sure

leave the soap on windows edge it keeps ice from sticking !!

My 1991 hondas driver side window hasn't rolled up unless done manually for awhile. the past week it has been completely stuck. now , i can't open the door from either the inside or out. help, i...

This is a common problem with old cars as my old car had the same issue. What you need to do is,

For window problem
------------------------------
1. Glass channels in which glass glides up and down get deformed due to age, exposure to sun, rain for so much time, so it needs replacement. Replace it if they are in bad shape.
2. If glass channels have some life (not much damaged or don't want to spend too much money right now) then buy a silicone based lubricant and lubricate these glass channels, glass will roll up and down without any problem for a week or so then you will have to oil it up again.
3. If everything is fine and oiling does not help then there is a problem with power window motor, its not getting enough power or it has gone weak. Power window needs servicing in this case.

Door jamming problem
--------------------------------
1. Try putting some oil in the lock and see if this works
2. If its again jammed then you need to remove the inside door panel and then look for the rods running from door lock to door to the lever in door panel. You have to adjust these rods to make the door lock and unlock well from both inside and outside. This is a little tricky work but you will figure it out easily. You may have to either make the road lightly tight by bending it a little or loosen it, just see which setting works for you.

I would like to save money and replace my 2001 vw cabrio window regulator (passenger/right-side) myself. Is there a chance anyone could walk me through this? Or even from video instruction?

If you have not figured this out yet I should be able to help you. The door panel has 2.5mm allen screws around the outside, remove them, under the pull handle(pry it off) there are 2 philips screws, under the speaker grill(pry it off) there are 4 philips screws. Remove the speaker. Pull the door panel loose, the door handle (the hinged latch release handle) stays on the door frame. Disconnect any wiring to the door panel and set aside.
I believe on this car you will see a plastic sheet covering the metal portion of the door. The easiest way to deal with it is to cut around the pieces where the allen screws went in and the door handle, etc. Just tape the plastic back together when you reinstall.
Once the door panel is off, lower the window to a point that you can see the clamps that hold the window, loosen them and remove the glass.
The regulator is held in place with 4 10 mm bolts, loosen them and bend the regulator out. Remove the motor and swap it over( I believe it is held in place with 3 or 4 t30 screws),
Reassembly is reverse. Close the door and run the window all the way up, hold the switch there to learn the top position.
Height adjustment is done from under the clamps where the glass attaches to the regulator.

Hit me up with any questions.

How do you install the passenger side window. we got it in but cant get the roller wheels into trhe metal track on the window

Its probably better to start over and remove the window glass from the regulator (use duct tape and tape in position to the window frame, it will hold fine). Remove the regulator and motor assembly and put together as a unit, then reinstall. Bolt back onto door and reattach the glass. Next time its easier to just remove the motor by itself, not the whole assembly. The rivets can be drilled out and replaced where it sits. You may have to slightly bend the corner of the inner panel to get rivets in, just bend back when done.
