2003 ford f250 battery drain dead after it sets over night found radio stays on after door is open with key out

It's possible your alternator is faulty and not charging the battery

All this comes from the GEM module,You will need to repair the driver door lamp switch located in the door lock assemble.

try by taking radio out. you may have a bad connection, loose wire or short to radio. if not, spray all door switches with a good lubricant like wd-40 or pb blaster, open and close doors to loosen up the switches. to see if radio goes off properly. if there is 12 volts to radio, it may be a bad ignition switch. try the doors first. then go from there. have a good one !!

There is a set of Diodes in the Alternator, when these are shot, the battery will drain even though the key is turned off. I went to the auto wreckers and took 4 sets off of other alternators and swap them out when this happens. (about every 5 months) Look for a small plastic cap on your alt. and remove it and the diode set underneath the cap and replace. easy peasy. Good luck.

i know this will sound weird but, spray WD-40 in all the door latches (door side). I mean ALOT of it .Open and close all the doors many times and that will solve the prob. :)

check glove box light if equiped, interior lights that no off when you close the doors, also some radio, cb, dvd, etc. if all good check alternator for possible drain

The radio should still shut off after 20 minutes even if the door is not opened. If it stays on longer than this there is still a problem..

I have the same truck. The thing is designed so that the radio and dome light and even the windows will operate for a time which should expire immediately when you open the door. Try turning on the radio with engine running and then turn off the engine and just sit there and the radio should still play. Try the power windows - they too should go up and down. Finally open the drivers door and that should immediately kill the radio, windows and dome light. If it does not - you will need to report that problem to your dealer since the problem is in that timer feature which is part of the vehicles "brain". Sorry I can't be more helpful.

your radio is staying on? you have a bad door switch.the bcm does not see door opening and thus does not turn radio off. most likely the drivers door.
