Can no longer remote lock/unlock vehicle, new batteries in key fob no help. I tried the single key and double key method to re-program the fob, no help. I heard it might help to unplug the control module, but I don't know where it is located. Thanks!

If the A6 layout for the modules is the same as my A4, the lock pump is in the rear corner of the car, on the passenger side. In the trunk, pull up the carpeting behind the passenger rear wheel, and tucked down in there is the pump assembly. They're known to go bad and it's a pretty likely cause for your problem, provided your fuses are not blown.

There is only one fuse that mentions 'Locking', but also refers to the General Electrical Module (GEM). If you change the fob battery, you need to reprogram it to the vehicle. Or you could open any Transit around you. Lots of help below including resetting..
If the key turns in the lock, but does nothing, then the linkage has become disconnected or broken. The key is mechanical to the lock and the lock has a electrical switch to operate the central locking unit. Could be a simple broken clip from the lock barrel. Hope this helps
Unlock vehicle. Enter vehicle. Close driver's door. Switch ignition ON and OFF. Remove ignition key. Press and hold unlock button. Press lock button briefly 3 times within 10 seconds keeping unlock button depressed. Release unlock button. Some models: LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds. Some models: Central locking system locks and unlocks rapidly to indicate correct programming. Repeat above procedure if central locking system does not work and LED does not flash or LED flashes continuously.
try putting the key in the ignition and turning it to on then holding the unlock button for 30 seconds and then remove the key and try the remote if still no good go to your dealer and get them to reinishalise the system
Have you you tried just re-programming all of your remotes? I just added a "new" (from Ebay) remote and when re-programming, had to do them all. Here's how...
1.Using a functional key fob transmitter, unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System. 2.Insert ignition key into the ignition switch. 3.Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting engine. 4.Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum four seconds (maximum ten seconds) 5.While holding UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press and release the PANIC button. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the new Vehicle Access Code(s) 6.Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the transmitter at the same time. Then press any one of the buttons. The BCM will sound an abbreviated chime to acknowledge that the programming of the transmitter has been completed and was successful. 7.Repeat step 6 for all transmitters that will be used with this vehicle (up to 4 total) 8.Programming mode will last for 30 seconds. To get out of programming mode sooner, turn the ignition OFF. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer accept additional Vehicle Access Code(s) 9.When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob
Had same trouble with my 406, fixing no problem, with new battery in fob, insert into ignition, turn key, BUT DO NOT START ENGINE, hold button for about 10 seconds release button and remove key from ignition, then try and see if doors lock on remote, if not try again, had to do this a couple of times, and it worked, sorry to say that now my key fob button has completely fell apart, through ware and tare
If you don't have one that works for the vehicle now, you'll have to take it to your local dealer to have it programmed to the vehicle. Some will charge for this, some will do it at no charge.
If you do have a remote that is programmed and working for the vehicle, then the following steps will allow you to program another remote:
1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.
2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.
3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.
4. Press and hold the unlock button on the working key fob and hold for 4 seconds, then also press the panic button.
5. Release both buttons and you should hear a single chime to indicate it is in program mode. You have 30 seconds after the chime to program any additional remotes you want to program.
6. Press and release both the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously on the remote you are programming. You should hear another single chime.
7. Within 4 seconds after hearing the chime, press either lock or unlock button on remote that you are programming.
