Either there is still air in the cooling system or you are correct that the headgasket has failed.

Running with the cap of for at least 20 minutes should clear the air out of the cooling system. If it continues to bubble after that than the bubbles are likely combustion gases sneaking by the head gasket.

Let run it with the cap on and let it start pushing coolant into the overflow. Shut it down and smell the coolant reservoir. If it smells like exhaust it is the head gasket.

2002 jeep cherokee put new water pump and thermast in still getting hot like water is not flowing cheack top radiator hoses and its hot bottem hose is cold is it a bad radiator what can i do???

Hi David, How long did you run the engine before checking the temperature? The thermostat will only begin to open when the engine has warmed and the gauge begins to move. If after giving it a correct warming period it has still remained cold, I suggest the following. As you have already replaced the water pump, thermostat and radiator cap, the radiator may be blocked. Carry out a back flush, meaning, use a good quality radiator flushing chemical and follow the instructions carefully. Run the engine in accordance with the instructions. Let the engine cool and then draining, flushing the system by connecting a hose pipe with a fairly good head of pressure against the usual direction of flow. If that fails you may need to replace the radiator. Let me know how you get on, Happy new year Regards John

Did you bleed all air from the system? Is it actually overheating or is the light just coming on? If so, replace the temperature sending unit. If you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak then suspect a blown head gasket which will cause the engine to overheat. A compression test will verify this.

My jeep is overheating. I have changed the radiator. radiator fan, relay, coolant temperature sensor, thermostat, and fan relay and still the jeep overheats, What else can I do?

have a repair shop do a "block test" this test will test the cooling system for combustion gases. If gases are present, you may have head gasket or cyl head leakage.

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee overheats in traffic

Check the fuse for the fan and use a test light to make sure that the circuit is functioning. Warm up your car then feel along the top and bottom of the radiator to check for cold spots. If you find any then you may need to replace your radiator. If your heater isn't currently working it may be that since it is a part of your cooling system.

1994 jeep grand cherokee, over heats and dont get more than 3000 rpms, what you think?

I think you need to service the cooling system on this 15 year old car. But first, turn on the A/C and the cooling fan should run continuously. If not, the fan motor is bad, the fuse is blown, or the relay is defective. Also if the fan runs with the A/C on but does not run when it is not on even when the engine overheats, the thermal relay is bad. Check the water pump closely for leaks. If you see a leak at the pump it is bad and must be replaced. If you see white smoke from the exhaust or a white foam on the underside of the oil fill cap, and are loosing coolant with no apparent leak, you may have a blown head gasket. If so, have it looked at by a professional for diagnosis. If you do not think you have a blown gasket then proceed. Inspect all hoses and replace as necessary. Purchase 1 gallon of antifreeze and 1 gallon of distilled water or 2 gallons of premixed coolant. Also purchase a new thermostat. Set the heater to hot, drain the coolant, flush the system, and replace the thermostat. Pour in a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Leave the radiator cap off and start the engine. Keep the radiator topped off and you watch for air bubbles escaping from the radiator. When you see no air bubbles escaping replace the cap and check for leaks.

Jeep Overheating?

I would suggest you have the radiator and cooling system pressure tested . .another option would be to get a new radiator cap and try that. If you want to do a quick test for the radiator cap .. try loosening it to the first notch and see if your overheating problem subsides ..
