Greetings, I have a 2003 Ford Escape sutomatic 4X4 with 145K miles which has developed a very annoying and noticalbe low deep noted rumbling vibration that I feel through the whole car and steering wheel mostly while maintaining speed or very slightly accelerating usually under 2K rpm (approx 50mph) then it disappears when I take my foot of the gas and coast. Shocks are new, CV joints appear ok, tires are aligned, drive shaft seems tight as all suspension parts.

SOURCE: Van rumbles and vibrates

Does this van have a carrier bearing in the center of the driveshaft? If it does this could be your culprit, you can tell if it has a carrier bearing by looking at the drive shaft in the middle it will around the driveshaft and bolted to floor support of the van.

SOURCE: 2000 ford exploorer v-8 awd eddie bauer edition

Hello, I see you may a lot of changes and replaced a lot of parts. We leased an Explorer the same Year as yours. In our case there was a slight noise as well as vibration. The problem was the Front Hub bearings, They were bad at 18000 miles.

There are a few things I want to suggest. The spinning of the wheels on the lift will not load the bearings. A Dyno table can get everything turning with a load on it. As your vehicle is a 4x4, most Dyno's were 2 wheelers. You would have to call to find one for a 4x4.

Next, if the new Hubs do not help, have a look at the rotors. They are also balanced. You can spin balance the Wheel and rotor as a unit with a floor motor. It's not the best way to Balance because tire rotation or even shifting the Wheel on the lugs will UNbalance it. But this method CAN pinpoint a problem if a Balanced tire does not spin true when bolted to the vehicle. You will know the Rotor is off-balance and which axle is causing the problem.

I have a Ford Escape that came out of Canada. How do I change the Cruise Control from Kilometers to Miles. Every thing else is in miles so it makes it hard to land on the number I want to set it on.

I believe the cruise control cannot be changed. You will need to set it by watching the speedometer or memorizing the conversion from KM. It is annoying that Ford would do this.

I have a 2003 ford escape & the digital odometer doesn't work correctly

Have the dealer do a speedometer accuracy test. They have a special tool that can electronically read the speed and then compare it to the readout of the odometer.

I have a 2003 ford escape 6 cylinder. I was just told that cylinders 1 and 3 are not firing, and that it is probably the coil. what else could it be?

unfortunately these coils do go bad I had a bad one on the #1 cylinder. I bought a set of six "good low miles" used ones. I changed all six- two were bad. My truck runs great now and I have a couple of spares for later on

2003 ford escape will not go pass 2ooo rpms and will not idle

Greetings:

My 2002 3.0 V6 Escape is doing EXACTLY the same thing.

In neutral, it wont rev past 2000 and sounds very throaty like its starving.

Last year I had to replace all three cats and an EGR valve. If its the cats again, I am junking the car.

What is so magic about the 2,000 RPM point? It makes me think that it is something electronic.

I have seen this exact same issue on several posts with no responses. If anybody has an idea PLEASE post it.

Thanks,

Robb

2003 ford escape. 75,000 miles on it. Sputters

What engine do you have?
I have a 2002 Escape with 3.0 V6. It sounds like the ignition is getting damp and the engine is misfiring. If the CEL is flashing, you really shouldn't be driving it. Check the owners manual, but you could damage the engine.
Anyway, go to an Autozone or other parts store. Many will scan your engine for the DTC code for free. This code will give you a clue.
My code was for a for a cylinder misfire. I was close to 100,000 miles, so I replaced the plugs first, then the one coil. It was the coil.
