There should be a check engine light on.You will need to retrieve the diagnostic coded from the computer to help you pin point why this is occurring. Go to autozone they will do this for free.
Hi there lose of power steering and the eps light coming on could be the power steering pump is broken or near stuffed so will require a new pump. The other reason is that your power steering oil level is to low and needs toping up. Also check that the drive belts driving the power steering pump are tight and not slipping.
im not sure if it is your problem or not, but i have a 01 trooper and it was doing the same thing. it ended up being a weak fuel pump. autozone will lone a fuel pressure tester. that was how i determined my problem.
the probes use the mazda motor.... the engine light is caused by a lean fuel mixture...this happens on almost every american motor..its the ecu tuning. this is a way for the a-spec motor to have less horsepower, but they detuned too far. if you replace the ecu with the j-spec one you will not have the light, and gain somewhere around 15 hp im not sure how much or how dramatic the losing power thing is but i do know that the 2.5l motors love LOVE the rpms... so 3,000 rpm is really where the motor starts to run good, other than that im not sure
