You have a bad charcoal canister. Go underneath the left rear of the car, pull the big hose off the charcoal canister, and if charcoal come out of the hose, replace the canister. This is a common problem w/Hyundai and Kia.

Why does my 2k bravada smart track suck at pumping gas?

GEE TRY ONE MORE PUMP (ISLAND)
THE TRIP MEANS TOO MUCH BACK PRESSURE
OR THE PUMP IS BAD, AND HAPPENS , SEE IT LIKE 10 TIMES Sense day 1, EPA laws in effect there.
try the next pump, learn that all machines can and do fail.
does 2k mean year 2000? as in Y2k?
on real cars (street legal) the gas filler system can fail;.
modern cars have breather tube to the top of the tank so the gas pump does not trip.
if second island pump fails try another gas station.
if still fails get the filler next hoses all tested out for bent hoses.

okay skill set #3 magic.
all my motors cycles trip, due to no vent there. to stop the trip
so all MC guys know this and take the silly filler hose see that accordion thing in the end and we collapse it fully and fill the tank just like we did in 1920, or ford MODEL A days. ever drive one , same thing.
this trick cause stinky vapors, to rise.
and zero back pressure and no trip possible doing so.
brave up do it.

Why doesn't it take gas at the pump?

Did you try filling at a different service station. Your issue seems pretty rare, but other have reported it.

When I pump gas into the gas tank it trips gas pump

there is no vent...fuel systems in most cars are closed..Did this just recently start to happen or it was happening all along. some inlet pipes are pitched at an angle that newer gas nozzle coupling cant properly seal around and this trips the pump. especially if you are trying to fill it to full tank

How much gas is left in my 2001 Buick Regal when the chime rings?

Not keeping your fuel tank above at least 1/4 is asking for trouble. The fuel pump needs the fuel in the tank to keep the pump from overheating. Also, its just as cheap to fill the tank from 1/2 to full as it is to fill it from E to 1/2. The benefit is that your fuel pump lasts a lot longer with the pump fully submerged in fuel. If you think keeping the tank at least half full is expensive, wait until your pump burns out.

Is difficult to fill gas tank

Gas pump nozzles have a device in the end that when gasoline runs back up into it, it turns off the fuel flow." There's a tiny hole near the bottom of the gas pump nozzle connected to a small tube.
Normally, air flows through that tube while you're filling and the gas keeps flowing as long as you hold down on the trigger. When that hole gets covered by gasoline (when your tank is full), a vacuum forms inside the nozzle and an automatic shutoff switch gets tripped, turning off the flow of gas with a thunk. Next time your fueling up try to reposition the nozzle.

2002 ford explorer while filling the gas tank the pump trips every couple of tens of gallons

This is caused by a defective fuel vapor recovery system in the fill pipe, you need the dealer to repair this.

Can't put in gas except a trickle

Some pump nozzles are a bit touchy and will sense any splash back from the gas tank. What really helps... only put the pump nozzle half way into the tank. It has more to do with the gas hose at the pump than with your car. Good luck.

Can't put gas in the tank.It keeps tripping the gas pump off. This started about a year ago but just recently has gotten to the point that I can only get 3 or 4 tenths of gas in before it shuts the pump...

Run the nozzle at the slowest you possibly can, and it should take the gas. Some vehicles have a small vent tube running up the inside of the filler neck. You might check that.

Gas comes out of the nozzle as foam, and any obstruction causes it to back up.

Try different angles for the nozzle as well.

Front tank fuel gauge not working

If the gauge works on the rear tank but not the front, the problem is most likely the sending unit in the front tank. You will have to drop the tank to change it. I guess what I would do is, set your trip meter to zero when you fill the front tank. Then, run that tank to the point where the truck is starting to run out of gas and then switch to rear tank. Keep track of how far you can go on the front tank. Then when you refill the front tank reset the trip meter and switch tanks about 20 miles before you think it's going to run out. It's not a good idea to run those pumps dry. Just make sure you have gas in the rear tank. If you do decide to change the sending unit, run that front tank as empty as you can, also, I would change the pump too. In 92, I think the pump or the sending unit can be replaced seperately. The worst thing about changing those in tank fuel pumps is getting the gas out of the tank. No trip meter? Just write down the mileage from the odometer. Good luck.
