There is one motor driving both wiper arms. If one side has stopped and the other side still works, it is likely that the point there the are connects to the drive is stripped or slipped off. Check at the point where the driver side wiper arm is attached to the drive / pivot point
It is possible that you tightened the bolts for the arms themselves to much and it is to much resistance for the motor. Try loosening the bolts a bit and see if that helps. Aside from that make sure that you are getting a full 12V to the plug by testing it with a multimeter for DC Voltage.
Hope this helps you.
Call the dealer for a quote. Then call a local IMPORT used parts/wrecking yard to see how much a used wiper motor is. Most mechanics will install a lot cheaper than the dealer.
Sorry, but i don't know how hard it is to change out this part.
check the wiper fuse.
the wiper motor has 3 or 4 wires on it,one is ground and the others make it operate the different speeds.
putting direct power to the motor will tell you if it is good.
you should check the connection to the main board and the connections to the motor for the wipers. these sometimes become gunked up, so when you pull them apart to check them clean them with sand paper or something that can scrub them like a green scratch pad
found a good garage who diagnosed the problem was due to a failed relay; relay and stalk have since been replaced. The windscreen motor is a separate issue and also needs replacing soon. So I'm happy my elderly Merc is back on the road again.
I have a Range Rover 2006 and suddenly under heavy rain the wipers atrat going very fast and quit working, I change the speed and work again but after a minute the wipers quit. And I can not find the problem . Somebody can help me?
