How do you check and add transmition fluid on a 2006 VW Passat

Need more clarification when driving and park. Happen to vw a lot with no solution. Could be electrical ( Tcm + Wiring conector, ECM) ( fluid change fluid+filter add lucid tray oil) or mechanical. Rattle could be engine or evap thing located under or next to air filter. Alternator also. The engine you speak of is know for sludge build up problems by VW. They've even made recalls base on what I've heard. Check oil circulation and how to fix oil circulation problem. Drop the the oil pan and clean filter screen where it sucks in oil. Other things related need to be unclog..

The recommended transmission fluid for the 1999 VW Passat is Esso LT 71141. There are several US distributors of it, but it is mostly stocked in drums, and sold at a pretty high dollar($15-$19) for single quarts.

The best way is on a lift, the engine must be warm and car level, with the motor running remove the plug on the bottom of the trany pan, oil should leak out a little, this means its full if not then on top side of trany remove the fill pull cap and add from there until it starts to run out of the plug, theres a long tube in the pan and oil will only run out when level is higher than the tube. hope this helps.

Take the measuring stick from sleeve, place a funnel into sleeve (two dollars at your favorite auto parts) and add tranny fluid to level. Do not overfill.

the passat has no dip stick so no way to fill from there VW says transmision never needs fluid , however there is a plug on side of transmision [passanger side] that you can access fluid remove plug check level with finger should be at tip and add from there , very difficult.

Check stik should be on left side of engine. Remove and check. You will need a long spout to add fluid. .

Depends on how you define closed system, Just the spot to add the fluid is all that you should have open. It's the Green cap near the drivers front head light (it'll have a little steering wheel logo on the cap) It takes special VW CHF 11S fluid (most autozones, carquest etc.) should have it.
