Inquire from the dealer to obtain the paint durability data (paint thickness measurements) from the factory. The dealer may have received a factory defect without knowing it.

We released two books on the subject during 2009.

Here are the links:

and

We have contacted Ford's Board of Directors on this issue
as well as their senior quality and paint management.

They have been informed that millions of factory defects were released to the consumer.

SOURCE: Peeling paint

My 96 Ram has been inside all of its life but is doing the same thing. I talked to a Dodge Technician and he said that the 96-98 body style didn't come with the best of paint jobs. Most of them only have two layers of clear coat when they should have four to six layers. The only solution to it is to put a better paint job on it. i hope this helps.

Peeling paint on cinderblock walls in basement

Just a guess, but it is likely that moisture is causing the paint to peel. I suggest you remove as much peeling as you can with a wire brush and then use a waterproof sealant. I had very good luck with a product they sell to seal cement walls in basements with moisture problems.

1995 paint on cherokee peeling

The peeling paint is a factory defect caused by the paint process they used in this year and others starting in the early 1990's. The cars and trucks with the defect where repainted free of charge on a case by case process, mine did this and being an employee of a dealer got it painted free of charge ($5,500 bill). Your truck is now to old and they will not repaint it.

2008 Dodge Nitro Canada

I hate to say, being 2008 and have that many miles, from my experienced working many years at many dealership, your fighting against a brick wall, you can threat them with all kind of law suit, all it will come down to is repaint and that is the best they will do. I hate to say that they going to make you run around in a circle by the time they have exhausted you, you will settle just for a paint job. Those machine from factory, I wish I can say its an excellent job it does but you going to get some defect. In you case if you take it a good paint shop and highly recommended, than you will get allot better paint job than a factory and you shouldn't even have a problems with it and the new paint job will probably outlast other parts compair factory paint on your car. good luck..and I hope that help some

Peeling paint on Dodge 93 Caravan

The paint is not covered under any warranty. Especially for anything over 15 years old. Even if you purchased a warranty extension through US Fedelis or equivelant, It is still not covered.
It will probably cost about $2000 to have it repainted. You can always call around for cheaper prices.
