My security system seams to be malfunctioning on my 1999 Cadillac Eldorado.... wont start and says waite 3 min at times before I can try to restart. Also, says security system issue and car may not restart... could this be a simple as a key chip issue or something more major like a electrical issue.

Take a look at your air con controls on the centre console.

You will see an "OFF" button and to the right of this you will see a toggle switch with an up arrow with the word "PASS" just below it.

Simultaneously press the "OFF" button and the up arrow together for three seconds or so and release when you see the instrument cluster lights come on.
You are now in diagnostic mode.
Read the codes from the digital display on the instrument cluster.
Have a pen and note pad ready to write down the codes.
