Hi, my battery went flat in my 1990 300zx, i have charged it and put it back in but now my immobiliser won't turn off. I noticed a thin red wire loose near battery but as my brother took battery out for me I don't know if this has got something to do with it. When i turn ignition key my stereo and red lights on dash light up so I know battery is charged.

Does the light come on briefly, then go out when turning key to on? It should do that. Something is wrong with the pump if you turn key to on and the pump doesn't turn on for 2 seconds. It should turn on to put pressure in the line and to the injectors.

On the alternator there is a heavy red cable (wire) going to the battery. The battery gets charged though that wire. There is a fuse in that wire between the alt and batt. That fuse is called a fusible link. Check the voltage on that wire at the alternator. You should have baytery voltage there. If you have no voltage, the fusible link is burned out.

Hi my car won’t start it turns over fine but the immobiliser seem to be kicking in. Was running fine changed the battery an now won’t start. Any ideas?

Your truck may have had the factory trailer tow package, but that did not come with a wiring connector in that year. There should be a wire harness under the rear of the truck near the center of the bumper with 7 wires of the following colors/characteristics -

Red/Orange - +12V Battery (Thick Wire) From fuse #8 (40A)
Black/Orange - Tail Markers (Thick Wire)
Light Blue - Trailer Brakes (Thick Wire)
Violet/Black - Backup Lights (Thin Wire)
Dark Green/Red - Left Stop/Turn - (Thin Wire)
Brown/Red - Right Stop/Turn - (Thin Wire)
Black - Ground - (Thick Wire)



Under the dash, the brake controller wiring should be -

Red/Orange - +12V Battery (Thick Wire) From fuse #8 (40A)
Black/Orange - Ground - (Thick Wire)
Light Blue - Trailer Brakes (Thick Wire)
White/Tan - Brake Light sense - (Thin Wire)

on a lot of these late model computer base cars when battery power get low the computer gets confused. try this disconnect the neg. battery cable. charge the battery. reconnect and try again. my son cobalt battery went bad key was stuck in the igntion. good luck.

try unlocking your doors manualy one at a time then try if it dont work them cheapest way is to call a lock smith some of them have the programer and there only arround $ 150 bucks ok hope this helps

Have you checked the alternator, I work at a auto parts store and see this all the time, check the inline fuel filter, also have your checked the coil, mine went out and that was the last thing I checked but am back on the road.

Check that the battery is charged, you can do this by turning the lights on and see if they are bright as narmal.
There are 2 wires going to the starter motor, thick and thin wire. The thick wire is connected straight to the positive terminal of the battery. The thin wire is connected to the relay which is operated by the key. You can power the starter motor by powering up the terminal that the thin wire goes to. Make sure that the thick wire has positive loltage from the battery.

Immobilizer unit is connected in series with the neutral safety switch.

Next time your Luxes GS fail to start.....put you foot on the brake,shift to NEUTRAL (N) and turn the key.

A shorting/shorted neutral will draw power and kill the battery.
