The speed sensor on the tail of the transmission is most likely bad.

The speedometer on my 2004 Chevy Ventura does not work... What would be causing this problem

Could be a few thing's . Hooking up a scan tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be the first thing to do., viewing speed input data to the PCM - engine computer from the VSS - vehicle speed sensor . Also if the PCM see's this input it outputs this info on the class 2 serial data communication network to the instrument cluster . The instrument cluster has a microprocessor with logic programmed into it , an controls a electric motor to set the speedometer needle . GM had bad Stepper motors in their instrument clusters from 2003 to 2006 .
Does the vehicle shift ok , no running problems ? Any light's lit on the instrument cluster ? check engine etc....

2001 Buick Century Limited speedometer problem, Speedometer not working but odomitor ok. Is there a fuse?

if the odometer is working then the problem is with the speedometer head unit as the odometer gets its information from the same source as the speedometer. you can have the speedometer head checked and fixed if its fixable.

Speedometer doesn't work every time the instrument cluster light is on. I tried covering up the sensor with no avail

Its a connection problem. Also the sensor system in you blazer could be worn out. Too expensive to fix. Get a Garmen GPS. It tells you your current speed and all that other good stuff. Highly recomend.

Where is cluster for speedometer lights

The "cluster" means all of the things you see under the plastic cover in front of the driver, the 'gauges'. The term is a reference to the 'instrument cluster' including speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, idiot lights, temperature gauge, everything.
Get a second independent opinion since this is very unusual. Most likely you have a blown fuse.

I have a 1995 ford explorer 4x4 ive changed the spped sensor got a new cluster and speedometer still doesnt work its getting irritating please any ideas on what it could be???

Check the sensor in your ******. most likely the only thing left. be sure to check the harness at your cluster for voltage to eliminate wiring or fuse faults.

Speedometer not working chevy ss 2003

GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors.

All of a sudden my speedometer and my gas gauge quit working

If it would of been only your speedometer I would of tell you to replace your speed sensor. But in this case you gas gauge stopped working as well so I would recommend taking your whole cluster to a mechanic he will try to fix those two items, otherwise you will need to replace the whole cluster, same thing happened to me. Good luck

Both my speedometer and tachometer stopped working. My speedometer stopped working first and less than a minute later, the tach stopped as well. My code reader says speed sensor which makes sense, but what...

The speed sensor can be tested with a scanner. Only take 10 minutes, If it works then your instrument cluster took a dive. Same thing with the RPM. If the scanner sees it then the cluster is bad. Getting it diagnosed properly is your best bet. You can get the cluster rebuilt for alot less than new. modulemaster.com does them.

Speedometer stuck at 20 miles an hour?

My 96 did the same thing. The speed sensor is and was fine -- the problem is an open circuit in the wires inside the gauge itself.

The Chilton's manual has pretty good instructions on how to replace the instrument cluster. You can buy just the speedometer gauge, or an entire instrument cluster for $100 or so on eBay. Just be sure you get a cluster that matches your model and trim line -- the LX and DX have different clusters, and of course the automatic and the 5-speed are different as well.

Do be sure to disconnect the battery before you begin the project, as there's a (slim) chance you can discharge the airbags if you don't
