Had trailer axle replaced 3,000 miles ago now brakes are to tight wont stay properly ajusted

Trailer brakes arrive in a variety of types - conventional single leading shoe, twin leading shoe and auto reverse.

All the brakes are usually manually adjusted but there is no reason why automatic adjustment should not be included. Brake drums tend to increase in diameter as they become hot in use and in the case of automatic adjustment, if the brakes aren't assembled correctly, they can keep adjusting and then be too tight when the drums cool.

As with all braking systems of the type, the general rule is to ensure the linkage or cables are fully released prior to adjusting the brake shoes and once that operation is satisfactory the operating linkage or cable is readjusted.

The auto reverse brake is something of an exception. There are two main differences that are obvious to the user - firstly during reversing the overrun mechanism does not apply the brake as in the other types where a reversing lock must be applied.
The second obvious difference will be noticed when applying the trailer parking brake. If the trailer is on a forward slope the parking brake lever behaves normally. If the trailer is on a rearward slope the parking brake lever will pull up almost twice the distance before the brake is fully applied - the parking brake lever ratchet has a great many more teeth than the other types...

For the uninitiated there is a huge temptation to attempt to rectify what they imagine is a fault by overtightening the operating linkage.

Truck goes forward in all gears except park

What a strange statement . I would expect the vehicle to go forward in all gears except park as that is when the transmission is not working and a gear is physically locked by a pawl in the box . I think you meant reverse in which case run the fault codes and look for a reverse solenoid / servo problem or a TCM fault.

Shift into park

Could be the park lock solenoid. Thats the part that locks the shifter in park and requires you to press on the brake pedal to release.

I have a jaguar xj8 and the gear got stuck in park ,and I can't put it in reverse or drive. How can I fix this problem

Most likely the lock out switch at the brake pedal is at fault, because in order to put it in in to any gear you have to step on the brake first ! Their is a switch located which prevents you put it in gear with out stepping on the brake pedal, so check this switch first.

1993 camry le 6cly will not roll backwards. can jack up all wheels and all free. car will move forward bur locks up as in park when reversing.bye the way the service brakes and the hand brake are free.it...

It sounds like a problem with the reverse gear and you're probably going to have to have a transmission shop look at it,I'm assuming it locks when it's running and you shift into reverse.
