My 04 1.6 renault megane struggles to start in th morning and once it does fire up you hav to rev it to ensure it wont cut out. The car then splutters and judders a bit till its warm then it tend to run ok. Could this be the crank sensor thing or something else? Also are there any signs of when a timing belt needs chamging and how much does it normally cost?

Hi.could be whats called"a dry start". Fit a genuine oil filter to the engine. With cheaper oil filters the oil drop back into the sump when left for long periods of time.good luck.

it looks like u have bad spark plugs, mainly when the car is cold .this noise seems to be backfire coming thru air fllter casing or the accessory belts. also check your engine oil quality-replace if necessary

This sounds like a idle air control problem. take alook at the throtlebody plate, make sure its clean. use a little throtlebody cleaner and a tooth brush, open throtle and clean body and both sides of the plate. that may do the trick. good day.

I suggest you get one of those manuals people get nowadays to do it yourself..
My nephew use it to repair my car and it's totally repaired now. Here's the website he bought it from.

it in the air filter intake ,best advice take car to renault dealer and lay the golden egg .start playing with these cars and the immobiliser cuts in ,hey come on it is renault what else do expect ,,,,,from a car thats designed to be dealer only repairable

the carb needs cleaning, thats what it was on mine, i thought it was spark plugs but took it back to main dealer and they fixed it but cost £££
