On my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2000almost all the electrical system is not working. Interior lights, locks, windows. Also sometimes all the lights on the Dash board turn on and the Gauges stop working, even the AC compressor. The code that I get from the car computer is P-1686 and P-1687. Do you know what can be the problem?

You may want to have the wiring harness inspected. A major section under the fuse box(hood on 96 GC 4.0) may become chafed by a close proximity AC gas hose connector. My mechanic said it was slowly chewing at the harness. It caused me fuel pump problems, but your intermittant problem could be similar.

This seems to be the affects of a bad dinamo charging your battery . If you take a appart the dinamo you should fine a part called in mechanic terms "the bones" they look like 2 black magnets with a wire coming out of them . They are not expencive and you should not change your dinamo untill you try this first a car dinamo is very expencive .

I agree, these vehicles have a problem with the blend doors and since the accuators hit the door when it opens and closes, it breaks the doors. and it's a huge job to replace them.

The interior lights won't go out and the electric windows and door lock. The light for the security system does not light up

Shut all the doors, and hood and hatch, set the antiteft, and wait 1 minute, and disarm it,see if this will start the vehicle.

99 Jeep grand cherokee...interior lights, door locks, pwr windows

The wires that go into the doors has probably broken from opening and closing the doors. They run though a rubber boot where the hinges are. Check all the doors wires. This is a common problem and i have fix many jeeps with these problems.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Electrical issues.

the button that pushed in when you close the door could be bad its literally like a $10 part and plugs in and is only held in with one screw. My interior lights used to flash on and off and i replaced that and now good as new, but you would need to figure out which door is doing it by pushing the button in manually
