Hey...it's easy to fix. Open the fuse box under the hood. Find the audio fuse. Pull it out for 10-15 minutes to reset the cdplayer. Plug it back in and problem solved. If it still does not work just change the fuse. I had that problem and had to search high and low for a solution and found it
on some web site. IT WORKED...will save you $800 that Lexus charges to do the same thing.
Man you guys are awesome !!!!! I have a 04 RX 330 I love the car, yesterday from no where I started getting that "CODE 4" Error couldn't do anything tried every buttons did not do anything.

The 'Error 04' started shortly after I inserted a new CD. The player was set on 'random" and would play util the 'Error 04' came up. I couldn't do anything. Then I pulled the radio fuse, with the key off, (No.25) on my RX 330. I was able to start the CD player and I ejected all of the discs. I put in six new discs and the player worked great. I inserted the suspect disc again and got the 'Error 04" again. I did the fuse thing again and was able to eject the bad disc and put another one in. So far it's working fine. I think the problem was the disc and by pulling the fuse the radio reset itself. Hope it works for you. Owen

Hi pcrouthamel, you may have a solution to this, but again you may not.
I have an '04 Ody and also had the E-00 error code when trying to play a CD. There are many suggestions as to what it may be and speculations as to how to fix it. The vehicle manual indicates it's a 'focus' issue.
Here is what I did based on internet research and recommendations and what occured:
1) checked both fuse #9 and #11 (pulled cleaned contacts and re-inserted) -- no fix
2) changed the battery in the Ody (is was due anyway) to address the possible low voltage issue -- no fix
3) inserted a CD, and before it was enter all the way, pulled it back out -- no fix
4) same as 3, but after pulling the CD out, gave the upper portion of the CD player a few firm bangs (literally - crazy I know) -- no fix
5) pulled the dash off (way easier than you may think) and removed the radio; pulled the top plate off to see if there were any obstructions within the unit such as coins or other material; shook it to ensure there weren't things I couldn't see; used a Q-Tip and worked it over the lense to clean it; tried another CD - no fix
6) in addition to 5, just as I inserted the CD for a second time, and while it was fully loading, I gave the heat conductor plate on the back of the radio several firm hits with the heel of my palm -- it worked!!
Apparently, there is more to the 'focus' issue than the vehicle manual leads you to ascertain. Like many DVD and CD players, the laser runs on a carriage. Sometimes this carriage can become misaligned; perhaps from hitting a pot hole too hard. My movement of the carriage while the CD was loading, had put it back in alignment. Now my CD player works.
I had the same problem. disconnect the battery cables. then reconnect them. this will reset the cd player and it should relaese all your cd player problems.
this happened twice to me and the above worked fine both times.
I have different experiance with the C.Dplayer ( error 3 ) , there is no need to remove it nor send it to the dealer ,all you have to do when you have `` Error 3 `` is to reset the C.D player , by recycling the power supply ,this can be done by disconnecting the main car battery power supply , you must also keep the battery disconnected for at least one hour . then connect the cables to the batteries ,when you start the C.D player you will hear some clicking sound ,and watch the numbers of the C.D`s in the display you will find all what is inside has been detected by the display .
and your C.D player is back to normal..
i discovered ths by chance , when I had this error in the past ,coincidently I had to replace the battery and after installing the new batteries ,i was suprised to see the player back to normal condition by its self.
i had same problem with 01 a4 bought from arnold clark .kicked up a fuss and they got it repaired for me, this was nearly 2yrs ago and it's been perfect since so i would say all you need is good audio engineer. by the way audi also told me the radio needed replaced
for your 2003 TL 1. first remove the CD player (this is the hard part). 2. with the CD player removed, unscrew the top cover (4 or 5 screws) on the CD player. 3. with the top cover removed you can see the stuck CD. 4. all you have to do now is just push the CD out and reinstall
You could try a laser lens cleaner (the one that looks like a CD with little brushes on it) to see if that'll do it. There's no guarantee that the problem is with the laser eye though. If it is (such as just being dirty or dusty) then this may do it. If not though, that error code may indicate a more permanent failure of the head unit.
