I am experiencing power loss from my 2.0tdi 140 A4. seems like massive turbo lag. Started with juddering at low revs in 1st & 2nd gear, then complete loss of power. Starts ok & idles but no pulling power at all. Turbo sounds ok. Please help

I presume you experienced a loss of full power but had enough to get home. The check engine lamp came on too?

It seems your engine is in limp mode due to a possible over boost pressure . The ECU runs the engine with reduced power after an over boost is detected. If you cycle the ignition key and power comes back, this is most likely problem.

A fauliy N75 solenoid, with three small bore vacuum hoses and an electrical plug/connector, is possible cause .

This over boost can be caused by sticking vanes inside the turbo .

Have it scanned and read the codes. Code P0234 will be set if over boost occurred.

You need the dealer to hook up a scanner and do a full diagnostic during this loss of power problem. It is not something you can fix at home.

sounds like turbo unbalanced, check oil feed pipe for turbo could be blocked or restricted. turbo should be reconditioned or renewed.

You need to check for codes to begin with. If no codes then we can start guessing. A code is pretty strait forward. Without a code, hands on will be the only way to diagnose this issue.

you may not need a transmission replacement, just try replacing the sensor of the transmission, it may help

you are experiencing early to mid stage transmission failure.

Fuel filter or vacuum leak good place to start. Good luck and have a good day.

sure sound like internal damage . will have to come out and come apart to find the extent of the damage. sorry i bet you didnt want to hear that.
