2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 29, 2010

It is a 2007 sporttrac LTD with a 4.6 V8. When I start the truck in the morining or if it has been sitting for a while it sounds as if I have an exhaust leak as it ticks. If I rev the engine it backfires but after it warms up it works excellent and when you rev the engine it does not backfire. It really does not matter if it cold, warm or damp outside when it does this. Once and a while I will start it and it will not tick but if I shut it off and then restart it it does tick. Please help

Its possible that there is a fuel flooding when the vehicle sits idle and this could be the reason that it starts off witha very rough idle, may be smoke and then clears up the cylinder to have the right fuel.Hence you may check the fuel pump for the residual fuel collection on the rail, have your pump calibrated.

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD V8 4-wheel and there is a "rattling" sound coming from area of the left front tire.

Is this the same problem you were having a year ago, or was that a bad tire ?
Usually a rattle is caused by something loose, such as a strut mount or a ball joint.

I have a 2007 GMC 1500 5.3 V8. Once I got 45,000

ever tuned it up? sounds like its due. plugs, wires, fuel filter (if equipped), PCV, and an intake system cleaning should restore your fuel economy to where you want it.
