The battery dead? Remove the battery cables and wait and then see if the key will turn. If it will not remove the key ( will it come out?) the key can be the wrong one ( maybe) you can have a blown fuse. Any fuse so you need to check them all. If the key will turn with the battery disconnected then put the car in park and turn the key off and remove it from the car. with the window down and the doors all closed and the hod open reconnect the known good ( charged Battery) with the battery connected don't open the door but reach in and put the key in and start the car. the doors should lock when the engine starts. reach in and unlock the door and get in and close the door. then turn the car off and remove the key get out and close the door and lock it with the key. wait a minute and then unlock the door with the key get in and drive away like normal. do everything though or you'll unset the reset cycle. Make shure that the break lights work as they control the unlocking feature of the collum.

I have a 2008 pontiac g5.I started it and it shut off right away and my anti theft symbol came on.What can I do and what is wrong with it?

you ignition key has a chip in it and there is a chip in the ignition switch in the steering wheel. If either chip has gone defective you will get a shut down snd the anti theft message. If you have another key, try it. If you get the same message thern the problem is in the steering column. If you cannot check it or know how to repair it then have it brought to a reputable repair shop and have them check it out and if it is in the column, have them repair it.

I replaced the steering column on 07 pontiac g5 now the anti theft is on and i don't have my remote cuz i lost the keys and used column only has the key what do i do

The reason your anti-theft is active is the new column has a different key than your original. The chip that is in the key is different than the one that is suppose to go to your vehicle. You need to order a new lock cylinder from your local GM dealer for your VIN number.

Hello: You might try tapping on the lock cylinder while turning and jiggling the key, if that don't work you will have to replace the lock cylinder.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 which will not go completely into the park position (automatic) which will not allow the key to completely shut off and be removed, meaning the lights stay on. Will start and...

typically your problem is in the column. That's for cars that have the shifter on the column. What's happening is the gears aren't lining up to put the shifter in the park position. Unless mechanically inclined you'll have to take into a shop.

Pry off the plastic cap off the bottom of the steering column. There is a small white plunger in this access hole and press while turning the key to the lock position.

I have owned both a 2005 Chevy Cobalt and a 2008 Pontiac G5, and both now have experienced front end rattles at slow speed over bumps. I fought with O'Reagan's for 2 years to get the steering column...

actually, the most common problem for this is not the column, but the control arm bushings. they cost about 20 bucks a side. since almost every manufacturer has switched to this style of bushing, this is very common in every car that rolls into my shop. as for the steering column, i have never seen a problem with the actual column, but rather the intermediate steering shaft. now, that being said, these particular cars are now equipped with electrically controlled steering. you are inevitably going to get some noise as an electric motor changes direction and assist levels. you cannot get overly picky with an entry level car. think that noise is bad? try owning a newer toyota. you would swear the steering wheel is going to fall off in your hands.
