Since your lighter plug in has stopped working, has any other interior electrical equipment also stopped working, like the coutesy light for instance, or the car radio etc?

the reason i ask is because the lighter plug normally shares its fuse with another electrical component & its usually the other component that the fuse symbol will be associated with, if you see what i mean? (providing it IS just a blown fuse that is preventing the lighter plug from working that is!)

N.b. IF the fuse HAS blown, then you should endeavour to find & rectify the underlying cause!! A fuse is incorporated into an electrical circuit as a SAFETY device and should not blow for no reason. When a fuse has to be replaced, then it is very IMPORTANT that its replaced ONLY with a new one of the recommended amp rating(this can normally be found in the vehicle handbook if you have one)..under NO circumstances should it be replaced with one of a higher amp rating than specified!!!!

My son stuck a screwdriver in the cigarette lighter of my 2004 chevy blazer I opened the fuze box interior one the 15A fuze was fried Replaced it but still the lighter doesn 39 t work Checked th

I don't believe that the lighter has a relay in it's circuit. My best guess is that the lighter element shorted out, causing the fuse to blow. The lighter part that you pull out of the socket can be disassembled by unscrewing the knob. The element (part that glows red) can be replaced. Any auto parts store should have one.

I have a 2005 scion xa and the cigarette lighter has never worked

The fuse box cover should tell you which fuse controls the lighter. Also, I've seen it where the people forget to hook the harness up to connect the lighter unit

What is a PTC 4.5amp and where is it located?

It acts as a circuit breaker. It will be in you TIPM, (totally integrated power module). It's just a glorified fuse/relay box under your hood. It won't look like a fuse, but It will have a clear top so you can visibly see a burn. PTC stands for positive temperature coeffiecient, wich means, as temperature rises, so does resistance until the circuit opens. If may have occured due to an excessive current draw from your cigarette lighter if you have plugged anything into it.
