First thing to check is the fuses located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the fuse box cover over and there will be a diagram for each fuse. Locate the A/C blower, power windows, radio, and turn signal indicator fuses. Also check that your batteries positive and negative cables are secure on the battery post. If your fuses are ok and the battery cables are connected then you will need to replace the PCM (vehicle computer)
Body control module has failed
This problem is caused by the BCM, this is the "body control module" u will need the dealer to scan the module and run an active test on it to see if it responds, u can also try disconnecting the NEFATIVE battery cable for 3 minutes, this may restore function

OK...I went out there to try and disconnect the nagative battery cable.....there is a positive one that leads to the battery...somewhere hidden underneath...that is part of the fuse box module....and the negative battery cable is located separately with a batery cable line leading below toward the wheel somewhere...The freakin battery is not even located near the top of the car !! LOL...This car is a trip !! So I disconnected THAT negative line that has a connector at the top but I can not get to the one directly AT the battery.... SOOOo...you are pretty sure this is the problem?? It can't be a fuse cause when I went back out there and put the keys in the ignition all those things that go out when I actually turn the engine on...they work !! The windows, air bag light goes out, air works, blinkers, radio...all work till I turn the engine on.... does this solidify your diagnosis?
I received a response and followed up to that response but did not hear back. The response told me I could try disconnecting the negative battery cable. On the 2001 Stratus the battery is underneath the car buried and I can not get to the area where the negative and positive are directly connected to the battery... I tried to disconnect just the negative charger bolt at the top but this did not work...I am able to turn the key in the ignition one click and ALL items come on, the air, radio, windows, signals all work but when I actually start the car they all go out and the air bag light comes on. // I read in another thread a completely different method of reset that stated the following... " If you have a wrench loosen the nut on the clamp that is attached to the battery post labeled (-) and remove the clamp from the post. Then do the same thing at the (+) post, remove the clamp. Then touch and hold the two now free clamps together for a minute. Then reconnect the + clamp to the battery (tighten the nut) and finish by connecting the - clamp to the battery. This technique is called a 'soft reset' of the digital communication system which is how the body control module interacts with the rest of the vehicle systems. This 'soft reset' might do the trick."... if I could get to the battery! will this work on the 2001 with the extension connectors to the - and + charge clamps at the top??
Thanks Michael... Everyone was wrong....2 said the body control module and you said the fuses and PCM...the follow up to my question when the first guru did not respond to my follow up question was that when I put the key in the ignition and just did one click everything worked..everything came back on....even to me that would eliminate fuses and a body control module... I took it to my mechanic and he determined it was the ignition switch and replaced it. Thant solved the problem....thanks anyway @!
Thanks emissionwiz, Unfortunately you did not respond to my follow up posting in which I stated that when I put the key in the ignition and just did one click everything worked..everything came back on....even to me that would eliminate fuses and a body control module... I took it to my mechanic and he determined it was the ignition switch and replaced it. That solved the problem....thanks anyway @! Big kudos for what you do !!
