Put new pads on my 2000 dodge1500 cant get the brake lite on the dash to turn off how do i get it to turn off

If you have opened the the brake system to get the piston on the calipers back. You need to bleed the brakes. By opening. I mean turn the bleeder valve on the caliper. If you opened the system, you have air in your brake lines or the master cylinder is not fully serviced with fluid. A good bleeding will have you in good shape.

you must mean the abs system, the light will be on if there is a leak in any part of system. this is why brakes are soft.the abs system has all brake lines coming out of it, 2 to the front and 2 lines to back brakes.

New master cylinder and booster. Brakes stop good

Well if you have bled it correctly starting at the farthest out(PS Side Rear) and working to the closest(DR Side Front) and you make sure to close the bleeder valve before letting up and repumping the peddel, then I would say that the seals in your new master cylinder may be bad. When you bled the second or third time if there was no air then I would say you have a bad master cylinder. If there was air then you have another problem.Well hope this helps and good luck.

How to determine if 97 Ram 1500 has 2- or 4- 2wheel brakes? Need info for wheel bearing replacement.

on 1997 dodge ram 1500s you can look at the back of the front brakes and if you do have 4wheel abs you will have a brake line and an electrical line running tto the brake caliper. you can also look at the master cylinder, on the right side of the power brake booster (if youre looking from the front of the truck) there will be a metal brake distribution block if it has 2 lines running out of it you have 2 wheel abs...4 lines means 4 wheel abs

99 Dodge Ram 1500 2x4 rear brakes not working, shoes are like new only 60,000 miles on truck. front brakes appear to be the only ones working.

Try bleeding the lines. Put a 2 foot long vacuum hose on the bleeder screw, and submerse the other end in a bottle of brake fluid. Loosen the bleeder screw, and pump brakes until there are no more bubbles coming out of the hose. Tighten screw. Make sure the reservoir is full at all times. Adjust brakes if necessary.

1989 G20 Van right front brake is locking up when applied. Calipers replaced. Did not fix problem.

The piston is binding in the wheel brake cylinder, perhaps a bit of rust in the cylinder.
Inspect it, replace wheel brake piston and maybe the cylinder if you can't make it "smooth".

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van rear brake hammering

Are the brake shoes on right, there are two size shoes, One shoe has a longer brake lining then the other. The short brake lining is towards the front of the van and the longer brake lining is towards the rear. The rear brakes also may need to be adjusted, you can do that by going in revers in a empty parking lot and push the brakes as hard as you can to stop the van. Don't give your self a whip lash, just push down gradually and as far to the floor you can about 7 to 10 times. The self adjusters should adjust the brake on both sides, try this first before you take the brakes apart again. It may just need a adjustment and after that check the brake fluid in the master cylinder. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help

Brake caliper 2003 Dodge ram Quad cab 1500

How are the brake pads wearing? The easiest way to help determine if the caliper is bad, is checking the brake pads. The inner and outer pads should wear out at the same time, and also wear out the same time as the pads on the other wheel in front. (you should always change all front pads at the same time, or all rear at the same time.) When the caliper starts to fail, it doesn't completely release after you step on the brakes, then let off. So, if the pads are not wearing out at the same time, your caliper should be replaced.
You can purchase a new (costs more), or rebuilt (you have to turn in your old one) caliper, and replace it. You should also have the rotor cut (also called 'turned'.) The rotor surface is cut so it is perfectly flat and smooth. If it's worn beyond a certain thickness, it can't be 'cut', (for safety) but must be replaced w/ a new one.
You should also flush out the brake lines, as fluid absorbs moisture and becomes contaminated over time, which will ruin the calipers/brake cylinders. To flush out the lines, start at the bleeder valve that's the greatest distance from the master cylinder. Go next to the bleeder that's 2nd greatest distance, 3rd, and closest. If you want more detail on bleeding the system, let me know, I'll give you more info.
