Will the fuel pump prevent a 1999 chevy tracker from firing

there is no choke on trackers. nada

daughter drove tracker 50 miles to lake cabin and car stalled as she came into driveway, car turns over but no fireing could this be electronic fuel pump or what fuse or what?

The fuel tank needs a certain amount of pressure to operate the fuel pump. Make sure the gas cap is tight, believe it or not if the fuel cap is loose or faulty the check engine light will come on. It could also be the fuel filter or also the fuel pump.

it is a good idea to depressurise any fuel system before working on it to avoid injury.

If it's like the S-10 Blazer you don't. It's top mounted to the right of the battery and is four bolts a BFH or pry bar and it's out.

Check the oil. A few of them cars back in the 80's had a low oil switch to prevent the engine from running if the oil was low by turning off the fuel pump. But if it runs when you pour gas in it, and you say it has fuel pressure? Why is it not getting fuel? There has to be shut off somewhere in the line that is preventing it. Try removing a battery terminal to kill the entire system then, retry it. You never know.

Sounds like a bad countershaft bearing. The trans will need removed and disassembled to fix it.

correction , check compression after certain the Timing belt has not slipped and cam timing is off.
if cam slips by more than 20 degress , say good by motor.
